Protecting pollinators – for biodiversity, nutrition and climate adaptation 🐝🌺 Did you know that 75 per cent of the world's food production depends on insect pollination? Pollination is crucial for plants to reproduce, ecosystems to be healthy, and crucial for biodiversity. However, pollinators such as bees are massively threatened by habitat loss, pesticides, diseases, and climate change. To stop their decline, we support measures in Latin America and the Caribbean to protect these vital insects and their ecosystem services. This includes setting up a regional knowledge platform and advising farmers on how to implement pollinator-friendly practices. This is important as some developed countries already have an insect extinction rate of 70%. We have a long way to go.

1dThe connection between pollinators and our food systems is often underestimated, yet they are the unsung heroes of biodiversity and climate resilience. By empowering farmers and supporting ecosystem restoration, we take vital steps toward securing the health of both nature and future generations.
