Celebrating a Milestone in Global Eye Care: Overcoming Preventable Blindness 👁️ Recent reports from the World Health Organization reveal a significant reduction in cases of preventable blindness worldwide, thanks to the tireless efforts of eye care professionals, increased public awareness, and global health initiatives. 🎉 Major Achievements: Cataract Surgeries on the Rise: Cataract removal remains the most common and successful surgical procedure worldwide. Increased access to affordable surgery has transformed millions of lives, restoring vision and independence. Trachoma Nearly Eradicated: Once the leading infectious cause of blindness, trachoma is now on the verge of being eradicated in many parts of the world, due to sustained public health campaigns and improved sanitation. Expanded Access to Eye Care: With more mobile clinics and community outreach programs, underserved regions are receiving critical eye care services, including screenings and treatments for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. 💡 What’s Next?: As we celebrate these milestones, it’s important to continue the momentum. The next frontier is ensuring that eye care is truly universal, addressing disparities in access and quality of care. By investing in local healthcare infrastructure, training more eye care professionals, and fostering public-private partnerships, we can move closer to a world where everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a healthy vision. Together, we can envision a world without preventable blindness. #EyeCare #PreventableBlindness #GlobalHealth #Vision2024

Would you be shocked to learn that "in the U.S., more than 120,000 (people) are blind from glaucoma, accounting for 9% to 12% of all cases of blindness"? [Source: Glaucoma Research Foundation] As a company whose mission is the ‘eradication of preventable blindness,’ this World Glaucoma Week, we wanted to raise awareness of the importance of regular optical/retinal screening as part of a comprehensive annual eye exam and use our voice to shout about why it is so important for maintaining good eye health. Advanced glaucoma often affects peripheral vision, making it difficult for individuals to drive and access clinics easily for their regular exams. Thus, they benefit from eye care practitioners offering mobile services. We're here to support modern practitioners in addressing this challenge. Retinal imaging is one of several tools used in the comprehensive management of glaucoma. It aids in early detection, monitors disease progression, and evaluates treatment efficacy as part of a comprehensive eyecare strategy. Retinal images also support personalized management and patient education. Contact us today to explore integrating mobile imaging into your eyecare practice and join our global mission to ‘eradicate preventable blindness', as well as enhance eye care and health around the world.🌍👁️ #epipole #epicam #glaucoma #worldglaucomaday #retinalimaging

Myopia Control: A Growing Necessity in Eye Care Did you know that myopia (nearsightedness) is becoming a global epidemic? 💡What is Myopia Control? Myopia control involves using a variety of treatment options to slow down the progression of myopia in children and young adults. This can include: Orthokeratology (Ortho-K):Specialized contact lenses that reshape the cornea overnight. Atropine eye drops: Low-dose atropine has been shown to slow myopia progression. Multifocal lenses: Glasses or contact lenses designed to reduce strain and help control the growth of the eyeball. Why is Myopia Control Important? Uncontrolled myopia can lead to higher risks of eye diseases later in life, including glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal issues. Early intervention through myopia control can significantly reduce these risks and ensure healthier vision long-term. As optometrists, ophthalmologists, and healthcare professionals, it's crucial we stay ahead of the curve by educating families about myopia control options. By working together, we can help slow the progression of myopia and set up future generations for clearer, healthier sight. Let's make myopia control a priority! 👀💡 #MyopiaControl #EyeCare #Optometry #VisionHealth #ChildrensEyeHealth #PreventBlindness #MyopiaAwareness

Patient safety should always be a top priority for us working in #medtech and #healthcare providers. As we navigate the complexities of patient care, it's essential to address sedation challenges, for instance, in the electrophysiology lab. Procedural sedation has become more intricate due to factors such as ageing patients, existing health conditions, lengthier procedures, and the need for deeper sedation for complex ablations. Among cardiac interventions performed under analgosedation, respiratory disorders are the most frequent adverse events. Imagine being able to identify potential issues and act upon them more rapidly than ever before. Capnography technology holds great promise for mitigating risks and ensuring patient safety during these critical procedures. Curious to learn more? Take a look at Dr Matthias Hammwöhner's presentation here on the use of capnography in cardiac interventions at Paderborn's St Vincenz Clinic* and how it enhances patient comfort and minimises incidents, complications and prolonged procedure times: https://lnkd.in/dqtb2V46 #PatientSafety #PatientOutcomes #Anesthesia #Sedation #Cardiology #Medtronicemployee *Dr Hammwöhner is no longer an employee of the St. Vincenz Kliniken Salzkotten and Paderborn. He now works as a doctor in private practice.
