We’re coming to the end of 2024 🎉 and it's time to take a look at what we’ve done this year! This year we produced the first litres of methanol using the UP-TO-ME technology ⚡🔬. This is a great achievement of the project 🚀, so, what are we doing next? 🤔 Now that this methanol has been produced, the next step involves our project partners strategically assessing its suitability as a marine fuel ⛴️. Stay tuned to our social media 📱 to hear more about what we’ve achieved in 2024! 🎊 VTT Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Global Omnium Isle Utilities Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) ICODOS European Research Executive Agency (REA) #Cloudfluid #horizoneu

🌍 SOMMER 12-Month Consortium Meeting 🌟 On 28–29 November 2024, the SOMMER project team gathered at hte GmbH in Heidelberg, Germany, for the 12-Month Consortium Meeting. This milestone event brought together the consortium members to review progress, share insights, and map out the next steps for advancing the membrane technology for sustainable syngas production. ☀️ Our innovative approach uses concentrated sunlight to drive CO2 and H2O conversion at temperatures below 1,500°C. This enables the efficient transformation of unavoidable CO2 emissions into valuable chemical raw materials. A big thank you to the hte team for being such great hosts—it was truly appreciated! Another big thank you goes to all participants for their contributions and commitment to this project. Together, we’re forging a path toward a CO2 circular economy.🌿 DLR Institut für Future Fuels, Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), IREC - Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya), hte GmbH, CSIC, Morgan Advanced Materials Haldenwanger GmbH, TITAN Cement Group, BASF #Sustainability #Innovation #Syngas #CircularEconomy #CleanTech #FundedbyEU

A two-day mission focused on innovation in the hydrogen value chain was organized at RWTH Aachen University Aachen, Aachen city and Jülich Research Center on November 27-28 by IIS e-WallonHY, Cluster TWEED, Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI) and Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX). The Walloon delegation included 22 representatives from H2 technology companies (John Cockerill, H2, H2WIN SA, BEBLUE Cryotech SA, BTD Manufacturing, and JEMA SA), universities and research centers (ULiège, UNamur, Cenaero, and CRM Group), District Cleantech Charleroi, WBI, AWEX, and NCP Wallonie. We met with 20 colleagues from RWTH Aachen, Jülich Research Center, NRW.Energy4Climate, Stadt Aachen, HydrogenHub Aachen, and Helmholtz Hydrogen Cluster H2. On the first day, we visited the Center for Mobile Propulsion at RWTH Aachen and participated in three working groups to address key issues related to lifetime performance, material characterization, and production of hydrogen technologies and components. In the evening, the city of Aachen hosted a networking dinner themed “European Hydrogen Valley: Cross-Border Collaboration as an Answer.” On the second day, we toured the Jülich Research Center, including the Jülich Living Lab Energy Campus and the electrochemical process engineering facilities at the Institute for Energy Technology (IET), including test station for PEM electrolysis and coating technologies for electrochemical conversion systems (electrolyzers, fuel cells). We continued our working group sessions to explore collaboration opportunities between Aachen, Jülich, and Wallonia on the (lifetime, material, and production) topics of the inspiring breadcrumb of this mission. Presentations by NCP Wallonia and the Jülich EU Affairs Manager on European project calls were also part of the agenda. The next step is to further develop our draft proposals and project teams to continue this collaborative work. We extend our sincere thanks to all the German and Walloon organizers and participants who contributed to the success of these two days! #CRMGroup #Innovation #Hydrogen #S3 #Forabetterfuture #IIS

🎊🥂𝗭-𝗧-𝗚 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 Besides science and technology development and deployment in the field of hydrogen, HyCentA Research GmbH also takes part in studying the economical and societal impacts of a growing hydrogen economy in an international as well as in a regional context. Hydrogen will have a major impact on a future sustainable and climate-friendly economy and, therefore, various stakeholders and society as a whole. 📈 Within the inter-university platform 𝐙𝐮𝐤𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐭 – 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐤 – 𝐆𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐟𝐭 (future – technology – society, Z-T-G) the Science, Technology and Society Unit at the Institute of Interactive Systems and Data Science at the Graz University of Technology, the Department of Environmental System Sciences at the University of Graz, the Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change at the University of Graz, and HyCentA work together in the project “𝑯𝒚𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒕𝒚𝒓𝒊𝒂: 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 (𝒁-𝑻-𝑮 𝟎𝟎𝟐)”. 💡Specifically, the following questions will be addressed: ❔What are the different priorities of the meanwhile 40 national hydrogen strategies worldwide? How might the international hydrogen landscape look like by 2040? ❔How can the interaction of international developments be described and its consequences - economic, social, ecological - be estimated? ❔What synergies can be identified between potential future paths in the field of hydrogen and Styrian R&D&I activities? In view of the foreseeable international developments, what is needed for Styria to establish itself sustainably in the international arena? As in basically all processes of socio-technical change, different logics - and thus different visions of the future - come together in the use of hydrogen. The aim of this project is to map them systematically and to confront them critically with considerations of feasibility. The central result is therefore the description and evaluation of potential future paths for the Styrian region as well as the comparison of these with current R&D&I activities and with developments in the larger context. On March 1st, a day that accidentally, but tellingly also marks the World Futures Day, Z-T-G had its first anniversary which was used to celebrate the first successful year of this research platform and to take a glimpse into what the future of not only hydrogen might bring to us. ✅ #ZTG #Innovation #Hydrogen #GreenHydrogen #Research
