How can university leaders foster innovation through trust? Our latest #paper explores the role of trust in driving #EdTech innovation in higher #education. Researchers Dr. Melissa Laufer, Bronwen Deacon, Maricia A. Mende, and Dr. Len Ole Schäfer (CATALPA) conducted 68 interviews across 8 European study programs to uncover how leadership practices shape a culture of digital innovation. Key Findings: 🔍 Flat hierarchies and shared decision-making fostered innovation and experimentation with EdTech. 🔍 Trust inspired staff to embrace #technology and create new educational formats. 🔍 However, 'trust' without support led to demotivation and stifled innovation. This study highlights the crucial role of university leaders in both empowering and supporting staff in the digital transformation of higher education. 👉 Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/gG3Phcfq

🎓 Dear Doctoral Students, I hope you’re having an amazing semester! As you reach the final stretch of your doctoral journey, take a moment to reflect on where you are and what lies ahead. 💡 1. Be Thankful for the Journey This program is a unique opportunity: • Learning among leaders: You’re surrounded by visionary peers, learning and growing together. Remember, as Michael Fullan (2011) said, success in leadership comes from collaboration. • Gratitude for the challenge: Every hurdle is setting you up for lifelong growth! 2. Learning Is a Two-Way Street According to Hattie and Zierer (2017), learning is a partnership between professors and students. For true success: • Teaching quality is key, but so is your engagement. Together, we create a transformative experience. 3. The Purpose of Our Doctoral Program Our Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at UHCL is like an MBA, but with an added twist—a dissertation! 💪 It’s designed to close the operational gaps many educational leaders face. • Managing scale: As Jim Collins (2001) highlights, public institutions don’t always operate like high-performing companies. We’re here to equip you with tools to manage large human capital and financial resources effectively. 4. Leadership Skills You’ll Develop Kotter (1996) reminds us that leadership is about executing a vision. Here’s what you’ll master: • Operational mastery: Managing people and resources at scale. • Strategic leadership: Turning management into student success from pre-K to higher ed. • Practical application: Real-world challenges are at the core of your learning here! Conclusion: Without strong emotional intelligence and operational skills, leaders risk creating disengaging environments, which lead to burnout and turnover. Our program is designed to help you lead with impact and success. Let’s continue to make meaningful changes that will shape not only education but the world. 🌍 We’re here for you. Let’s make a difference—together. Really great to get stuck in to this report on Operational Excellence from Institute of School Business Leadership . Despite static budgets and other frustrations with tech at educational institutions, the outlook is bright and there's loads of opportunity for improvement. These are things we're continuing to explore every day at RM Education with our new support model! Stephen Morales says that "By focusing on how people work, what they do, and why they do it, it is possible to refine the execution of an operating model to greatly improve efficiency and effectiveness." We couldn't have said it better! It's also a very welcome concept that we need to focus on the 'customers' of IT provision at schools, be they teachers or students, internal or external. And also the outcomes we want to drive for them. Thanks to the ISBL and Association of School Business Officials for pushing this idea forwards. It is attainable and we're getting our institutions into this way of thinking. #edtech #ITinEducation #operationalexcellence #continuousimprovement
