In the "Hydrogen strategy for a climate-neutral Europe", the heavy-duty segment was identified as the most likely segment for the early mass deployment of hydrogen-powered vehicles. Mandatory deployment targets for publicly accessible hydrogen refuelling points should ensure a sufficiently dense network of hydrogen refuelling points across the Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) core network to allow for the seamless travel of hydrogen-powered light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles throughout the Union. Recently, Samuel Suchel, Senior Government Affairs Officer at John Crane, was in Dusseldorf alongside fellow leaders in the engineering space for the first working session following the signing of the UK/Germany Joint Declaration of Intent on clean Hydrogen last year. Great session indeed, with very insightful discussions on the current state of the Hydrogen industry in Germany and the UK. I believe there is a broad consensus that Europe needs to accelerate in clean energy deployment if it wants to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. The good news is that there is a strong willigness and commitment from both governments to keep working on the remaining regulatory bottlenecks and funding gaps. When it comes to industry, the UK-Germany Hydrogen partnership is a unique opportunity for us to share experience, ideas, and build new bridges that will help us move faster. A more regular dialogue between technology providers and operators is also a low-hanging fruit for us to make sure we have the right products ready to enable large scale green hydrogen production. This decade is critical, not only for our sector, but also for the planet and society. Let’s work together to make this change happen!

Center for Houston's Future welcomes today’s announcement that the industry-led HyVelocity Hub has executed a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) to receive up to $1.2 billion in federal funding to build and expand low-carbon hydrogen and hydrogen infrastructure across Texas and the Gulf Coast.   For the past three years, the Center has been a key partner, alongside GTI Energy, The University of Texas at Austin and other nonprofits, in creating the strategy and vision for the Hub, working with local, state and federal elected officials and building industry support for the $1.2 billion grant, which is the largest in the history of the Department of Energy.    The announcement comes a year after the Biden administration announced Houston was one of seven clean hydrogen hubs to be built around the country to reduce the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions.   Read more: https://lnkd.in/gXbRxwvs
