But the company’s plans in the wealthy Gulf state are much bolder. Embraer wants to increase its presence in the entire Middle East, one of the main destinations for Brazilian arms and ammunition. Australia has taken a significant step in expanding its role in the AUKUS trilateral defence partnership by awarding contracts to several Australian businesses under the Defence Industry Vendor Qualification (DIVQ) Program. The initiative is designed to enable Australian businesses to supply their products and services into the AUKUS trilateral submarine industrial base. It provides a vital conduit for helping Australian businesses, supporting high-skilled and well-paid jobs in locations across the country, including in regional Australia. Through the DIVQ Program, the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) is working with AUKUS partners to streamline processes and support the qualification of Australian businesses and their products and services. Contracts were this week awarded to HIFraser Group Pty Ltd, MACK VALVES, Bale Defence, and STAUFF. These companies will manufacture sample valves and pipe fittings as part of their qualification process to become approved vendors in the US submarine industrial base. Once qualified, they will have the opportunity to manufacture and supply valves or pipe fittings for use in the construction and sustainment of a range of navy platforms, including Virginia class submarines. Minister for Defence Industry and Capability Delivery, the Hon Pat Conroy, said the Defence Industry Vendor Qualification Program is not only vital to the AUKUS initiative but also provides substantial benefits for Australian businesses and the local workforce. “This qualification program is critical to delivering on AUKUS but also demonstrates how AUKUS can deliver for Australians and local businesses by providing opportunities for growth and jobs,” he said. 📷 The Australian Submarine Agency at Indian Ocean Defence & Security 2024

▶ Indian Navy's warship INS Teg has rescued nine crew members out of 16, who went missing after an oil tanker capsized off the coast of Oman. The navy warship has been deployed for Search and Rescue assistance for the capsized oil tanker. ▶ Out of the nine members, eight are Indians and one is from Sri Lanka. The entire crew of MT Falcon Prestige, a Comoros-flagged oil tanker capsized 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah near the port town of Duqn in Oman. Three Sri Lankan nationals were among the 16 crew members. ▶ The operations are being conducted ed challenging weather conditions as the area is experiencing rough seas and strong winds. Navy's Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft P8I is also assisting in the search for survivors. ▶ The port of Duqm is located on Oman's southwest coast, close to the Sultanate's major oil and gas mining projects, including a major oil refinery that forms part of Duqm's vast industrial zone, Oman's biggest single economic project. ▶ Entire crew of MT Falcon Prestige, a Comoros-flagged oil tanker capsized. ▶ The capsized oil tanker transmitted a distress call around 10 pm on July 15 off the coast of Oman, sources said. ▶ The Indian Embassy said it is in constant touch with the Omani authorities and the search and rescue (SAR) operation is being coordinated by the Oman Maritime Security Centre and the Indian Navy is conducting operations in the region. ▶ The vessel is a 117-metre-long oil products tanker built in 2007, LSEG's shipping data showed. #indiannavy #shippingindustry #oiltanker #oman #shippingnews #breakingnews #navy #rescue #merchantnavy

Wonderful example on how grit, perseverance and thinking outside the box play a key role in #sales #Spanish company Navantia Australia could have have called it quits once the #Australian government granted a contract to BAE Systems to provide nine Hunter ships back in 2018. Instead, Navantia Australia kept looking for different ways to provide solutions to the #Australian government without creating any conflict: "Navantia made a series of proposals To Australia, then without request, which is very much in line with the plan ultimately chosen by that country's ministry. ... The company warned that it is merely a supplementary offering, and in no way a replacement for the Hunter program. Navantia has insisted on this argument in all the proposals it has put forward since then. A year ago, it doubled its offer by proposing a full fleet of six ... It specified that the frigates would be ready in 2029, if built in Spain, and later, in 2032, and also somewhat more expensively, if built in Australia." The product and service are also part of the sales process and Navantia also reinforced part of their offer to meet the Australian expectations: "Meanwhile, Navantia continued to take positions. Germany and Spain are in a fierce competition for India's submarine contract, as Chancellor Olaf Scholz and a delegation led by Germany's Defence Minister, Boris Pistorius, gear up for their visit to New Delhi on October 25. The focus of their visit will center around Germany's bid for the Project 75(I), an initiative involving the construction of six advanced submarines equipped with air-independent propulsion (AIP) systems. ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) of Germany has teamed up with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) in India for this significant submarine contract, showcasing a strategic collaboration that could bolster ties between the nations. TKMS, initially hesitant due to a heavy order backlog and procurement process concerns, has now set its sights on securing a government-to-government deal with India, recognizing the project's strategic value. Following this, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will embark on a three-day visit to India on October 27, marking the first official trip by a Spanish leader in 18 years. Accompanied by a high-level delegation, Sánchez aims to strengthen bilateral relations, with a particular emphasis on defence cooperation.
