Director of Growth Marketing @ Buffer | Prev. Growth @ Shopify | Talks about growth, PLG, SEO, and marketing

We just crossed $20 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) at Buffer — for the second time. Flattening a decline is a huge accomplishment. Reversing the trend? That’s next level. Over the past year, it’s been a wild ride. With a commitment to our strategy and an incredibly resilient team, we went from $18M to $19M ARR in 7 months — and then hit $20M in just 4 months. Here are three things that have helped us along the way: • Re-igniting our user acquisition loops to drive new MRR growth. • Commitment to improving our UX and performance across web and mobile • Doubling down on building products and marketing for our known customer personas Here’s to the next milestone. How fast can we hit $21M? 🚀 #growth #growthmarketing #PLG #marketing

Phenomenal work Simon Heaton and Buffer growth team! Reversing the curve is no easy task, but it is so damn rewarding. When I started at CIRA in 2015 we were faced with the same thing... declining growth, sky was falling, market share slipping, etc. Under Paul Sarkozy's leadership we not only flattened the decline but reversed the trend and had banner year after banner year. It was a thrill! My guess is you hit $21M before 2025 is out.

I use Taplio and spend about $200/mo with it. Can buffer be a replacement? Heres our use case: We ONLY post to LinkedIn We ONLY post to personal accounts (CEO, founders, etc) What I like to do is drop drafts of posts in their Taplio (think announcements, stuff like that) this is easy since I can log into any of their accounts via team plan They can then log into their Taplio, pickup a draft that I added, edit, and schedule

Nice to see real stories on LinkedIn! Could you elaborate more on: • Re-igniting our user acquisition loops to drive new MRR growth? Was it one big change or many different improvements?

Summary: Focus on the customer's problems by fixing the product to deliver value rapidly, ensure audiences using the product get value right away and can this with others to drive the growth loops?

I’ve been a huge fan of the product but it’s slipped alot the last few years. Glad to see the focus on the product again. I’d gladly move off Typefully to Buffer but it’s been extremely clunky to use. Looking forward to the changes so I can make the switch

The Buffer team was incredibly gracious to my small agency when my family had a medical crisis. They worked with me on billing and even sent a care package. I will forever to grateful for that.
