PPC Tip: Know why you're running PPC! I'm auditing an account for a premium-priced CPG brand. - 65-70% of their sales come from PPC - Account ACoS is in the 40% range - TACoS north of 25% - Lots of spend wasted on poorly converting generic terms - Not enough focus on brand defense and brand reinforcement - competing brands are showing up for many branded searches, leading to brand loyalty eroding. By not having a clear direction of what to focus on and what NOT to focus on, this brand is letting their marketing dollars fly out the door. Lots and lots of marketing dollars. If you're "just running ads" and are just focused on ad sales at a certain ACoS, your account might be hiding a bunch of things that need attention! How dialed in are your marketing strategies?

This ecom brand was stuck with Google Ads Until I optimized their account to reach $113,000 in monthly revenue with a 10X ROAS Here's how I did it: There were 4 main areas I focused on to produce the largest yield possible: 1. Missing Puzzle Piece 2. Easy Competitive Advantage 3. CVR Test 4. Main Campaign: Search Let's optimize this account together 👇 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝟭 | 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝘂𝘇𝘇𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 since all the brands that I have the opportunity to work with follow the Ads Vortex Model (my personal strategy IP that has made millions) this brand was missing a crucial component: Nurture Campaigns not every single account needs nurturing campaigns but looking deeper into this brands sales cycle, 40% of all conversions were 2+ days so we created a simple display remarketing campaign as a 30-60 day test to see if returning traffic improved 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝟮 | 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 with Google pushing visual search, we want to take advantage of this since MOST competitors don't (either being lazy or just not in the know) easy advantage for search ads: 1. Add Business Name 2. Add Business Logo 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝟯 | 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗩𝗥 currently, the brand is all in on Responsive Search Ads (RSAs) -- so let's see how we can improve them • 3 RSAs in our campaign • medium spending ad (30%) has a 1.9% CVR (compared to 3.9% & 4.1% CVR in the other 2) Test = pause that ad 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝟰 | 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 here's a list of potential improvements: 1. Pause 0 converting keywords > I used 90 day period > choose a time period that gives you a full sales cycle and enough data to be relevant 2. Add a few negatives to steer Google in the right direction > be careful not to overdue this on seasoned accounts when also using broad match keywords 3. Reduce 50+ Keyword Ad Groups to < 20 > leave all buying intent keywords To recap: 1. Find Our Missing Puzzle Piece 2. Easy Competitive Advantage 3. Improve CVR 4. Update Search Strategy For The Modern Day Ad That’s how we did it! PPC managers (myself included) often default to the phrase "We exclude brand traffic from all our pMax campaigns at all times" but is this really the best approach? By removing brand terms from your pMax we potentially also remove a touch-point from the customer journey for the pMax campaign, that could get lost by our branding campaign. If you exclude brand terms from your pMax campaign, you have to make sure that your branding search/shopping campaign will scoop up those searches I am by no means saying that we shouldn't exclude brand terms in our pMax campaigns, and I will continue to exclude brand terms from pMax, but this incremental test is food for thought for sure.
