“Get it right, make it safe!” This is the theme for World Patient Safety Day 2024, which highlights the critical importance of diagnostic accuracy. At some point, each and every one of us has been, or will be, a patient – making this a universal issue that affects us all. I am extremely proud to be part of a community that continually innovates to enhance diagnostic accuracy and safeguard patient safety every step of the way. But patient safety isn’t just reserved to professionals and providers… Everyone can play an active role in their own health journey. The World Health Organization encourages us to be proactive by doing the following: → Share symptoms and medical history during checkups → Not to be shy to ask questions → Keep track of appointments and treatment plans → Follow up on test results → Seek a second opinion if necessary What tips would you share to help ensure patient safety around the globe? #WorldPatientSafetyDay #WPSD #PatientSafety

The WHO has selected “Improving diagnosis for patient safety” with the slogan “Get it right, make it safe!” as the theme for WPSD 2024. WPSD aims to increase public awareness and improve understanding of patient safety; promote global solidarity and action and address specific patient safety issues. The WHO's Global Patient Safety Action Plan aims to provide a strategic direction for concrete actions to be taken by countries, partner organisations, care facilities and World Health Organization (WHO). It sets out a vision of a “world in which no patient is harmed in healthcare, and everyone receives safe and respectful care, every time, everywhere” and a goal of achieving the maximum possible reduction in avoidable harm as a result of unsafe care. Given most people experience a diagnostic error at some point in their lifetime, it's fitting that this year’s World Patient Safety Day theme is focussed on improving diagnosis for patient safety. #WorldPatientSafetyDay #Getitrightmakeitsafe #WorldHealthOrganization #PatientSafety #PatientExperience
🌍 Why we acknowledge World Patient Safety Day 🌍 As we approach World Patient Safety Day, we want to highlight a crucial statistic: 1 in 10 patients are harmed during healthcare, leading to 3 million deaths globally each year. Even more concerning is that over 50% of this harm is preventable. This statistic highlights the urgent need for ongoing awareness and action to improve patient safety. Tomorrow, we will share a video in which Insync CEO Jeremy Summers discusses this vital issue with Shannon Harbinson, Senior Manager of our Health, Education, and Community Services team. Together, let’s recognise the importance of patient safety and commit to making a difference.
