No parent suspects that teen dating violence (TVD) affects their child. Yet up to 19% of teens experience sexual or physical dating violence, about half face stalking or harassment, and as many as 65% report experiencing psychological abuse, according to research from the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Report, 2022. "When someone is in an abusive relationship, they might not understand what’s happening or have the experience to know what to do,” says Kaitlin Corson, LMHC. We sat down with Kaitlin to learn more about the warning signs and risk factors for unhealthy or abusive relationships, and how to start a conversation with your teen about their relationship. Child Sexual Abuse is not what you may think and not what is typically shown on TV. Over 90% of the time, the perpetrator is someone who is known (or thought to be known) and trusted by the child and/or family. It is very rarely a complete stranger. (RAINN) These statistics are still accurate in today's online world. It is definitely true that online predators are rampant, and it is important to be aware of online dangers. Online predators develop rapport with children and often pose as someone they aren't. For instance, a 37 year-old man may be posing as a 14 year-old boy, and the child thinks they are interacting with a child. The child may think that he/she is a friend. That's why ongoing communication is important and defining what a "friend" is. Continue following us for more information regarding how to have conversations with your child and how to keep your children safe. https://lnkd.in/ehd7i3A #ChildAbusePreventionMonth

Hi Community So we are still on our series on how to stop Sexual abuse by Parents Another issue is that parents need to; Monitor Online Activity; Be aware of your child's online activities and the people they interact with. Use parental controls and privacy settings to limit their exposure to inappropriate content or communication with strangers. Teach children to avoid sharing personal information online and to tell you if anyone makes them feel uncomfortable online. There are so many bad people looking for preys to take advantage of, so parents let's teach our children all this. Know the appropriate age to give phone to your child, as for me I feel a child should not have a smart phone not untill they are 16, if they need to do any assignment they can use my phone with monitoring, because you find out that early exposures makes them prune to dangers and sites that are not healthy for them. Technology has it's good and bad sides too Let's be careful. Our kids must not fall victims of child abuse. #Sandratheactivist #Advicateagainstchildmolestation #themumsteacher Rahina Kogi-Enweliku #linkedinforteachers #continueinglearning #tipsforparents #protectthechild #saynotochildmolestation

🛑 Yes, I know the topic of sexual abuse is heavy, and many want to pretend it’s not happening—but please take a minute to read and share. 🙏 Sexual abuse and harassment are on the rise, and the story of 13-year-old Na'Ziyah Harris is just another painful reminder of the reality we face. Her life was stolen by unspeakable violence, and sadly, this isn’t an isolated incident. This is happening in our workplaces, on college campuses, and in K-12 schools across the country. We cannot turn a blind eye any longer. As organizations, parents, educators, and community members, we have a duty to be aware and take action: Workplaces need to be safe: Companies must enforce clear policies, offer mandatory training, and provide resources for victims to report harassment confidentially. Colleges and K-12 schools must educate and protect: Our schools need to prioritize education around consent and ensure that students of all ages have the support and resources they need to speak up and feel safe. Communities need to step up: We all need to be more vigilant, recognizing the signs and providing support, advocacy, and resources to survivors. It’s time to confront these uncomfortable truths head-on. We owe it to Na'Ziyah and every other survivor out there. Let’s work together to create safer environments everywhere—before another life is lost or ruined by the traumas of this abuse. Please read, share, and let’s spread awareness. If your organization or school (K-12 or college) needs someone to come in, speak, or provide resources on this critical issue, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Let’s ensure we are doing all we can to protect and empower those who need it most. #JusticeForNaZiyah #EndSexualAbuse #SupportSurvivors #SafeWorkplace #CampusSafety #K12Safety #CommunityAction #LEMONSForChange https://lnkd.in/gMmTSzHj
