Here's something you'll want to hear: An analysis from TD Cowen shows that the cannabis industry is poised to welcome millions of new fans at the expense of the booze biz. Cannabis sales are expected to soar to $37 billion by 2027, with nearly 20 million new folks turning to the plant, while the alcohol industry might see a dip with two million fewer drinkers. The shift is well underway, with cannabis dominating 11% of the alcohol market share, a hefty jump from 4% just five years ago. And there's more good news. In some states, cannabis sales are already outdoing alcohol. As for what that means for you? With alcohol losing its shine, especially among the younger crowd, your dispensary could be the go-to spot for those searching for an alternative to beer and liquor. Want to grab those new to cannabis — and build their loyalty to your dispensary — without breaking the bank or slashing prices? HighRewards is your ticket. This isn't just another marketing gimmick; it's a groundbreaking loyalty program designed specifically for dispensaries like yours, ready to turn every visit and interaction into a chance for growth. Record High U.S. Cannabis Sales to Surpass Beef, Potato Chips, Movies Dan Kingston 6/16/24 AZ Cannabis News According to a new report, state-legalized U.S. cannabis sales could reach $32 billion in 2024, which would be more than beef sales. It’d also equate to more sales than potato chips and the movie box office combined. It is predicted that cannabis sales will surpass distilled spirits ($37.7 billion) within a couple years. Last month, researchers revealed data showing that for the first time in history, the amount of Americans who use cannabis almost every day has surpassed the number who drink alcohol that frequently. “A good 40% of current cannabis users are using it daily or near daily, a pattern that is more associated with tobacco use than typical alcohol use,” said Jonathan Caulkins, a cannabis policy researcher at Carnegie Mellon University. https://lnkd.in/g2zN-sGX #CannabisNews #MedicalMarijuana #Investments #Health #Economy

A recent article released on StratCann is warning Cannabis enthusiasts that "Canada's wholesale cannabis market [is] shifting from buyer's to seller's". This article outlines that Cannabis legalization in Canada has shifted from a surplus to a shortage, benefiting growers with increased leverage in the market. Agmedica Bioscience's Jacquie Trombley reports that 2024 marks a turn toward a seller's market, with prices for cannabis, including lower-grade products, doubling. This shift has led to more favorable payment terms for growers, with cash upfront becoming the norm. Industry-wide, closures of cannabis producers and export demand have reduced supply, further driving up prices. High-quality cannabis is particularly scarce, signaling a shift in supply dynamics across Canada. At Retro Cannabis, we are curious to see if this will continue to be the trend with #Croptober around the corner. While no one has a crystal ball, we wonder if post-harvest, flower from this growing season will level out inventory levels to some degree. What are your thoughts? Let us know! You quickly learn that mentioning you work in cannabis is a highly effective conversation starter. Recently, at dinner with a local brewery owner and brewmaster, we discussed the potential impact of increased cannabis access on the craft beer market, even though recreational cannabis is not yet legal in TX. He posed a thought-provoking question: Could the next two decades mirror the craft beer revolution, but with cannabis? Data from Canada, where recreational cannabis is legal, suggests this shift might be underway, impacting tax revenue generated from alcohol sales. This raises an important question: with potential market changes, will we see increased taxes on cannabis consumers, retailers, and manufacturers to compensate for potential revenue losses in other industries? How can we safeguard these small businesses? Food for thought this Tuesday morning. #cannabisbusiness #cannabis https://lnkd.in/g9u3EFM9?

If you own a cannabis brand what is your discussion or strategy around the hemp market? As Seth Yakatan recently noted in his post about Select dropping a hemp beverage, I’m curious what other cannabis companies are doing (or not doing) about a very clear cousin that seems to be coming over for dinner, even if uninvited. Most legacy operators were no strangers to bucking the system and the irrational laws that held cannabis back. Loophole or not, hemp is clearly a substanial market for now. The question of whether it is here to stay is even harder to determine as enforcement of any restrictions will be very challenging. My gut says that even if it’s not around long term, cannabis brands should have a hemp plan (and likely already deployed) to hedge. Hemp flourishing has and will continue to have significant impacts on cannabis retail revenue. Brands will be impacted too if they don’t diversify and capture both side of the equation until the law is more clear. Let me know what your thoughts and/or plans may be. I’m sure the legality will come up in the comments so I’ll provide my personal opinions (not legal advice) where I can. #staysmokey

The evolving cannabis industry is witnessing a surge in innovative products and consumption methods. While flower, inclusive of pre-packed, deli-style, and pre-rolls, has historically claimed a large slice of the market, its dominance is beginning to wane.
