Shared with Abang Abu earlier how easy it is to run your own podcast with one phone and 2 microphones. I was doing this test earlier with Amir Bashirudin in the scene while Nazreen Daud was in the background before The Golden Nuggets Podcast recording and even though in the example, I’m using 2 phones and microphones (it’ll auto sync), all you need is ONE app. The best part is that you can edit the layout and what you want to show. That means your podcast is IG Reel or TikTok ready. You can share straight away. You can also do your captions there but my preference is to do on CapCut so I have more control. But even though your content is TikTok-ready, you still need the right hooks to get traction on your videos. If you’re interested, I’ll be holding a free webinar tomorrow to share about hooks and also finding the right trends to get more eyeballs on your content. Comment “interested” down below and I’ll send you the details.

A big key to building a successful podcast is being fully video-led. People are consuming podcasts through video more than ever. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with a couple of chairs in a room and going audio-only. But for most of the shows we produce, we’ve found that the audience is usually knocking around on TikTok, Instagram, Youtube and other platforms that are primarily visual. Video isn’t necessarily just about looking fancy either. It opens up more ways to monetise, from product placements and YouTube ad revenue to a whole host of other opportunities. It also: ➡️ Gives you access to more platforms. ➡️ Increases your reach ➡️ Boosts impressions ➡️ And ultimately grows your audience. Without video, creators are putting themselves at a disadvantage. On the other hand, video definitely comes at a cost and raises the bar for entry (that’s where The Fellas Studios comes in!!) That’s why we have to invest heavily in making sure each set and all visuals are on point, because that’s how crucial it is to us.

I suspect my time in the the “ProductTok” section of LinkedIn has led me to believe that to be good at building products I need to write a book or have a podcast. Yo, I just want to build some cool stuff and make some users say “this is some cool stuff.” iPhone users (maybe Android too, dunno).. you know when you get a single-use PiN texted and it’s just THERE to copy into your browser or app without needing to look for it? Somebody knew that would make a *lot* of lives a *little* better a *lot* of the time. That’s what I’d like to do. I’ll be talking about it on my upcoming podcast: How to write a book about product and podcast about it.

Better podcaster tip #1 Want to start a podcast? Here’s the priority list for podcasting equipment: 1. Microphone - This is the only essential item to get started. I use a RØDE Podmic, but if you’re using your laptop to record, get the Podmic USB. 2. Camera - If you want to video your podcasts, i’d seriously suggest starting with an iPhone if you’re not tech savvy. If you are savvy, Sony EV-1 is compact and epic. 3. Lighting - This comes before a camera if your lighting sucks where you’re recording. If you have a window with natural light, sit next to this. Then upgrade to artificial lighting. NEEWER do awesome, slim panel lights.

My biggest mistake when launching my podcast was not doing video. Greater distribution is one reason, and the other is having promo assets. A video recording creates an asset you can repurpose across IG, TikTok, and LinkedIn to promote your show. Sharing these short-form videos is a fantastic way to show people you have a podcast, and give people a sneak peak of what you talk about. My podcast is about comic books and lends itself especially well to video because we're often talking about art. When I got to the comic book shop I casually mention podcasting and people try to look me up on YouTube first. Huge miss not being there. According to this stat, 64% of new listeners prefer consuming podcasts with video. • 33.3% - Listen audio only • 32.3% - Play as video in background • 34.4% - Play as video and actively watch We've recently signed up with Riverside.fm to easily capture and edit video. Excited to experiment more.

Podcaster friends -- Apple's iOS changes that have significantly affected podcast metrics have had me thinking. Is it time for RSS hosts to adopt a standardized system to measure the growth or health of a podcast that does not rely on raw download numbers? Or does this already exist? I'm thinking it would be a simple score that is weighted measuring numerous metrics that is easy for podcasters and -- maybe more importantly for professional podcasters -- sponsors/potential sponsors to understand.

Don’t wait for a New Year’s resolution to start your podcast. You can even record one while you’re driving! 🚗🎙️ Recently, Agnes and Frank took on the challenge of recording a podcast episode in a moving car using nothing but their iPhones and Detail. No big studio, no complicated setup—just a phone, two mics, and the road ahead. Here’s how they did it and how Detail makes it simple to go from an idea to a fully shared podcast episode: • Using Detail, they recorded with both front and back cameras at the same time, capturing every angle of their conversation. 📱 • To keep audio crisp, they connected two Rode Wireless GO mics, making sure each word was clear despite the background noise. 🎤 • Recording in horizontal format ensured they stayed in frame, but with Detail, switching to vertical was just a tap away. ↔️ • With easy drag-and-drop editing, they could center the speaker in each shot, keeping the focus exactly where it needed to be. • Auto-generated captions? Done. Ready to share—all in minutes. If you’re ready to start your podcast, don’t wait for the perfect setup or a New Year’s resolution. Grab your iPhone, download Detail, and start sharing your story with the world today. 🌍 Download here: https://lnkd.in/dQbznp4Y #Podcasting #ContentCreation #VideoEditing #MadeWithDetail #StartYourPodcast

Generating audience can be the hardest part of podcasting. "Somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.2 million podcast series have been published and remain available for listening. Of those, 44%—nearly a million and a half—published fewer than four episodes and then stopped forever" It's not the content because there is such amazing podcast content out there, it's simply discoverability and the ability for your audience to find your show. At Amaze Media Labs our AI technologies like audiencelift.com and our brand based podcast audience technology (even more targeted to a specific demographic for b2b shows) have helped our industry solve this problem. We place your podcast player next to contextually relevant articles to your podcast on the top publisher websites. We fish where the fish are most likely to be who will have an interest in your show and match them to make sure they are your desired demographic. Then we optimize it with our incredible technologies to generate lots of listeners! Our overall goal at Amaze is to grow the entire podcasting industry since many people who are reading an article and then click to listen to your podcast may never have listened to a podcast before. Hopefully we can show them how good podcasts can be and get them under the tent. #podcast #audiencegrowth #podcastgrowth #podcastindustry
