[The world of mRNA] Two of the most significant obstacles in mRNA therapeutics development are mRNA’s intrinsic instability and its immunogenicity. 🔎In order to address these challenges, several different approaches can be used, including optimization of 3 poly(A) tail length. 🚫However, long (>120 nt) stretches of thymidines in DNA sequence can lead to cloning difficulties, plasmid instability during culture and formation of multimeric plasmid structures. This #biopharmaanimation showcases a promising therapeutic technology for treating and preventing COVID-19 using Elovonoids and Resolvins. Our client is exploring innovative therapeutic approaches to combat COVID-19. They are focusing on blocking SARS-CoV-2 entry into cells and reducing disease severity using elovonoids and novel resolvins, which are lipid mediators derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids. Elovonoids, a newly discovered class of bioactive derivatives, protect cells by enhancing the expression of pro-survival and pro-homeostatic proteins while reducing apoptosis-promoting proteins. In vitro studies conducted by our client have demonstrated that these lipid mediators can lead to the synthesis of elovonoids in lung cells, downregulate the expression of ACE2 (the SARS-CoV-2 receptor), inhibit viral cell entry, and suppress inflammatory responses, thus mitigating hyperinflammation and cytokine storms.
