🇨🇦 Lest We Forget: Remembering Their Sacrifice, Embracing Peace 🕊️ On Remembrance Day, we pause to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who gave everything for our freedom. As we remember their legacy, it’s also a chance to think about the world we want to build for the future. 🌍 Many soldiers, including Sikh Canadians, stood side by side with others in both World Wars, often leaving their homes and families to fight for a cause greater than themselves. Their bravery and dedication remind us that the pursuit of peace is a shared responsibility—one that transcends borders and differences. Their sacrifices speak to the power of unity, empathy, and the strength we find in our diversity. 🤝 As we reflect today, let’s ask ourselves: How can we continue their work? True respect for their sacrifice isn’t just about remembrance; it’s about actively building a world where every person is seen, heard, and valued. 🌿 Let’s move forward with a commitment to peace through inclusion, understanding, and mutual respect. The real tribute to those who served is the world we create in their memory.

Now more than ever we need to remember that no one really wins a war. Some might say that only relates to lives lost and that you can win in terms of political power but my reading of history suggests otherwise. And the cost is in far more than lives. Although those should be our first considerations. Military and civilian alike. The costs extend to the long term economic, structural and social impacts of war as well. Even the smallest of wars, the arguments we have between us, can often be microcosms of the same phenomenon. My hope for the future is that we all learn to see things less combatively and more cooperatively. Respectfully. We may come at problems differently, see the world differently. But the vast majority of us are still just people, who want to live our lives and raise our families safely and successfully, in peace. The peace that seems to have eluded our species, our planet, for as long as anyone can remember. Let's us not forget. But more than that, let us reflect and remember and learn from those lessons and the sacrifices made in pursuit of better, so we don't keep repeating them. Let's all try and be a small part in that quest for better. So everyone can win. Even at the micro-level. It all starts somewhere. https://lnkd.in/g78uTF-A

🕊️ Honoring Victory Day in Europe: A Call for Peace and Remembrance 🌍 As we commemorate Victory Day in Europe, it is crucial to reflect on the lessons of history and the current state of our world. The sacrifices made during World War II must never be forgotten, and the memory of all the victims serves as a poignant reminder of the horrors of war. 🕯️ In today's world, where conflicts and tensions persist, it is more important than ever to strive for peace and unity. We must work together to ensure that the tragedies of the past are not repeated, and that future generations can live in a world free from the ravages of war. 🤝 Let us remember the past, honor the fallen, and commit ourselves to building a future where peace prevails. Each of us has a role to play in promoting understanding, tolerance, and cooperation across borders. Together, we can create a world where the ideals of Victory Day - freedom, peace, and unity - are not just commemorated but lived every day. 🌹 #VictoryDay #Peace #Remembrance #NeverAgain #Unity

War, the eternal theme of human history, is accompanied by countless sufferings and sacrifices in every outbreak. It is like a distorted mirror, reflecting the light and darkness of human nature. In the war, some people are brave and fearless, sacrificing their lives and forgetting their own; there are also people who are treacherous and will do anything for their own self-interest. And what is the 'way to become a devil'? Is it the temptation of power, or is it the distortion of the heart? Under the pressure and circumstances of war, some people may choose to go to the extreme, sacrificing everything, including their own conscience and humanity, for the so-called 'victory'. They gradually get lost in the game of power and become real “demons”. However, the real warriors and heroes know that war is not the goal, and peace is the ultimate pursuit of mankind. They are willing to fight for peace and sacrifice for justice. Although their path is full of thorns, their hearts are always full of light. #War #Peace

The force of reason or the reason of force? It is evident that the force of reason must prevail, the one that understands and is not belligerent, the one that attends to the human and Christian meaning of life. Achieving peace is a matter with two fundamental paths, The first is to respect faith and human life The second is that good will prevails over the interests of power and transcends the life of each one of the inhabitants of my beloved Ethiopia. Not complying with these paths supposes the inexcusable violation of the law of God and that the reason of force prevails, which is never right, it only brings with it desolation and death. Peace, by divine and human command. Ethiopia and the Ethiopians want peace, in their lives and in their hearts.

Today, we reflect on the profound words τετέλεσται ("It is finished") spoken by Jesus Christ on the cross. This statement goes beyond mere completion; it signifies victory and fulfillment in various contexts: - **Financial Context:** In ancient times, τετέλεσται marked debts & receipts as "paid in full," ensuring financial obligations were completely settled. - **Judicial Context:** Similarly, the term was used in legal settings to signify the completion of punishment for crimes, similar to a modern-day "sentence served" notice. - **Military Context:** In military history, τετέλεσται was shouted to declare full and final victory over enemies, signifying the successful overcoming of the opponent. In the ultimate sense, Jesus' declaration on the cross encapsulates these meanings: the debt of sin paid in full, justice served, and the ultimate triumph over darkness. Let's find inspiration in this message of redemption and victory for our own journeys. #Inspiration #Leadership #Faith #Resilience #Victory #Redemption #HistoricalContext #PersonalGrowth
