Doing things that don't scale is key. Especially in the early days. It's the best way to over deliver to customers. Those early customers will become your best sales people. They will provide the best case studies. They will validate your PMF and help you refine your offering. I get asked on daily basis how we make the "margins" work for Cosmic and the reality is I don't care. I care about making customers super happy. I want them to have the best possible experience. Scaling can come later. Plus I've found the best learnings come from doing the things that don't scale!

People will call just about anything "Growth". But most of them just don't get it: If marketing is an art — growth is a science. Growth teams do anything for sustainable growth. No only acquiring new customers. But keeping them. So they obsess over customers and their behaviors. → Always rely on data vs. intuition → Reduce friction as much as possible → Provide maximum value to users/customers How do they do it? — Methodical approach to growing (experimentation) — Acting on the whole funnel (vs. top of funnel) — Building feedback loops (faster learning) — Collaborating with product teams Growth marketers have tons of tools at their disposal. — Loops — Content — Product — Retention — Education — Interviews — Onboarding — Customer success ...and much more. Your short-term "hacks" aren't Growth. Growth is obsessing over your customers.

As an operations person, I struggle with hypotheticals from well-meaning senior executives. Things like “What would you do if our company wasn’t so inefficient?”. It’s a cruel question. As an operator, it is very easy to see the things you could do if you had more resources, better technology or cleaner data. The problem is that the business needs to run, and that requires you to work through the internal hurdles that create inefficiencies. A better question is, “What is the biggest internal hurdle you have and if I remove it, what will you be able to do that you cannot do now?” That question, if acted on, allows your operations leader to dig out of daily inefficiencies and make a difference for the company. #salesops #revops
