As we wind down into the festive celebrations and look towards a new year, this is a great time to reflect on our accomplishments and celebrate our achievements throughout 2024. Greater Sydney Parklands has continued to build a strong foundation in managing some of Greater Sydney’s most iconic urban parks. Our role as custodians of public spaces is more important than ever and with the help of our wonderful partners, we have sustainably improved this vital green infrastructure. From our volunteers to our tenants, suppliers and contractors your partnership has allowed us to continue making these significant milestones and amazing public spaces for our visitors to enjoy. The Belle Isle Conservancy is making plans for a centralized “cultural campus” that would include walkable, accessible paths between many of the island’s attractions. An RFP issued earlier this month is seeking designs that include green space; modern amenities such as small shops, food options and restrooms; and connections between attractions such as the Belle Isle Aquarium, Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, Belle Isle Boathouse, Oudolf Garden, Flynn Pavilion on Lake Takoma and the canals on the south side of the island.
