This is what I think is missing from most of the ai in education discussions. These discussions should not primarily be about how to use ai to what we do now or how to adapt what we are doing now to Ai. They need to be about how to prepare students for a world where their laptops, phones, and eyeglasses are roughly as smart as they are. — The future of education isn't just about adapting to AI; it's about redefining what it means to be educated .

ARRIVING ON MONDAY ⏰ Our Beyond the Hype Report, examining the reality of AI for education across England's schools in spring of this year: 📣 This report, from Professor Rose Luckin's Educate Ventures Research, examines the findings from 256 schools and colleges across England who completed a comprehensive self-assessment of their AI preparedness and use between February and May 2024. 🔔 It follows on from 'The Shape of the Future' report, published in September, and reveals a sector poised for transformation yet struggling with the practicalities of harnessing AI's potential. 🎻 To provide deeper context, we have integrated findings from complementary research, including Jisc's survey of 600 participants, HMC's study of 88 institutions, and two recent government reports [1] about AI in Education. 📢Exciting News: Cengage Group's Higher Ed business, Cengage Higher Education, has launched a GenAI-Powered Student Assistant in beta 📢 This fall, over 5,000 higher ed students nationwide will have the opportunity to test this AI tool.  Over the last two years, Cengage has conducted mixed-methods research studies with over 3,000 faculty and 200 students to better understand classroom challenges and how AI can enhance learning. This thoughtful research-driven approach was the foundation of the Student Assistant. This GenAI tool guides students through the learning process, providing access to relevant resources right when they need them, with tailored, just-in-time feedback, and the ability to connect with key concepts in new ways to improve student learning.
