#COP29 is the perfect platform for meaningful climate action—proud to be part of the conversation.
⏩ Wrapping up a great few days at #COP29 focusing on the issue of nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions and making the scientific case for reducing these emissions. 🔊 Here’s what Climate Adviser’s Senior Director of Food & Agriculture, Mumukshu Patel had to say: “Addressing nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions is critical to meeting Paris Agreement targets. It is the third leading greenhouse gas responsible for global warming after carbon dioxide and methane. At Climate Advisers, we are raising ambition for climate action on nitrous oxide and other super-pollutants, in particular from food systems. "Thanks to all the experts who spoke this week on the latest science and opportunities for climate action on super-pollutants, which account for nearly half of all global climate change. I look forward to the launch of the N2O Hub next week, to tackle N2O emissions and drive forward solutions.” 👏 Thanks to everyone who took part in “Slashing N2O Emissions: From Science to Action” on November 12th at the U.S. Center Pavilion with the U.S. Department of State, the Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) - A UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Initiative, and the International Nitrogen Initiative - and the launch of a new United Nations Global Nitrous Oxide Assessment by CCAC, UNEP and FAO. Thanks, too, to those who took part in “Is Net-Zero food within reach? Tackling GHG Emissions from Livestock and Fertilizer Use” on November 12th with CGIAR and the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), including key findings of CGIAR’s 2024 Breakthrough Report on Agriculture. And finally, thanks to speakers at “Super-pollutant Action in Agriculture” on November 13th at the Methane Action Hub with the Global Methane Hub, discussing ways to tackle super-pollutants from agriculture. Join us next week and watch this space for the launch of the N20 Hub on Tuesday, November 19th, at 1pm at the Action on Food Pavilion in COP29.
