New research from SOTI has found that nearly all emergency services workers in the UK (95%) are experiencing problems with mobile devices – such as tablets, smartphones, rugged devices, printers and more – resulting in a knock-on impact on response times and care. The more kit you have, the more there is to break. I did most of my service with a wooden truncheon and a succession of radios from Pye Pocketfones (rubbish) onwards until I helped change over to Airwave/TETRA (brilliant). Unless the kit is rugged and idiot proof ( in spite of degree holders) chuck it in the bin. Hopefully ESN devices will be made to this standard, the Sepura kit looks good. I
