My Talk about "Global South solidarity School, "The Global South School is a unique and distinctive approach, representing one of the ideal visions for a purposeful strategy and a strong start towards the roadmap of the future. It reflects the direction of and reinforces Egypt's cooperation with the countries of the Global South, with whom we share a common history and struggle. In addition, it focuses on developing youth policies and empowering them to leave a constructive mark. This is an opportunity to enhance local and international cooperation, exchange experiences and ideas, and learn about the countries of the Global South. The school acts as a bridge to strengthen, enrich, and activate the role of youth in international relations across different fields and directions, engaging them in dialogue, building, and exchanging experiences with officials. Participation is akin to being both an ambassador and a decision-maker simultaneously. Youth are the emerging powerful soft force on the international stage. 🌟 Reflecting on MUNzil'23 with Rotaract Club of Atlas Skilltech University! 🚀 As a proud member of the Organizing Committee, I am thrilled to look back on the phenomenal success of MUNzil's 4th edition! It was an extraordinary journey that surpassed all expectations, serving as a platform for 160+ young diplomats to engage in insightful discussions, brainstorm innovative solutions, and forge lasting connections over the course of 2 remarkable days. With an average committee size of 35-40 delegates, MUNzil brought together a diverse array of voices and experiences across five distinct committees: UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council), UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), UNSC (United Nations Security Council), Lok Sabha, and G20. Each committee provided a unique forum for delegates to tackle pressing global issues and explore potential solutions. Reflecting on this experience, I've gleaned some key learnings. Firstly, the power of collaboration and dialogue cannot be understated; it's through working together that we find the most effective solutions to complex challenges. Secondly, the importance of empathy and understanding in diplomacy - listening to diverse perspectives fosters mutual respect and enables meaningful progress. Lastly, the significance of youth engagement in global affairs; initiatives like MUNzil empower young leaders to shape the future and make a positive impact on the world. Witnessing the vibrant discussions, creative solutions, and friendships formed fills me with immense pride and gratitude. It's a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in making MUNzil a resounding success. On the second week, May 17th, we were introduced to the African Union (AU) by Keagetswe Alex Kgotlaetsile. He provided us with a comprehensive overview of the AU and its Agenda 2063, which was adopted in 2015. Broad View of the AU The AU is a continental union consisting of member states, working to promote unity, peace, and development across Africa. It plays a crucial role in coordinating efforts to address common challenges and achieve collective goals. What is the AU Agenda 2063 about? Agenda 2063 is the AU's strategic framework for transforming Africa into a global powerhouse of the future. It encompasses various aspirations aimed at sustainable development and inclusive growth. Aspirations of Agenda 2063 1. A Strong Cultural Identity: One key aspiration is fostering an Africa with a strong cultural identity, common heritage, shared values, and ethics. This resonated deeply with me, especially given the current trend of Africans, particularly Nigerians, increasingly embracing foreign cultures and neglecting their own heritage. How Can We Progress? To truly advance towards this aspiration, we must: - Active Participation: Engage actively in cultural events and initiatives. - Innovation and Creativity: Use innovative approaches to promote and preserve our cultural heritage. - Advocacy and Awareness: Advocate for and raise awareness about the importance of cultural identity. - Skill Development and Education: Encourage the development of skills and education that emphasize African values and heritage. - Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment: Foster youth entrepreneurship and employment opportunities that celebrate and incorporate African culture. By taking these steps, we can ensure that we progress towards a future where Africa’s rich cultural identity is celebrated and preserved, rather than forgotten.
