📣 #1HumanRace will be BACK and BETTER than ever in 2025, kicking off with some promising news from our team in Kenya. Fuelled by your amazing support and determination to stand up for girls’ rights over the years, particularly through our annual 1HumanRace challenge, we've seen the number of girls at risk of female genital cutting (FGC) and child marriage decline in our Baringo community in Kenya — from about 85% in 2021 to approximately 60% today. 💪🏾 This is a huge step in the right direction, but the hard work doesn’t stop here. So much more still needs to be done to protect vulnerable girls from danger, while also continuing to invest in the many initiatives that So They Can has established — ensuring no backward steps are taken in the fight for girls’ fundamental rights to safety, education and dignity. ⭐️ Introducing our new 6️⃣0️⃣ challenge! ⭐️ To align with this positive progress, we’ve shaken things up for 2025 and revamped 1HumanRace, introducing two brand-new challenges that invite you and your workplace to challenge yourself to support the 60% of girls who are at risk of FGC and child marriage. ✅ Registration is now open, so if you’re inspired to embark on something challenging and truly impactful in the new year as a team, don’t wait — sign your workplace up now: https://lnkd.in/gSSgc9jY #sotheycan #endchildmarriage #nofgm #endfgc #girlsrights #educationforall #1HumanRace2025

🌏👧𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱👧🌏 • Around the world, millions of girls are denied fundamental rights to education, healthcare, and safety. More than 129 million girls remain out of school, while 12 million are forced into child marriage each year, depriving them of their futures. These challenges keep girls from realising their full potential, impacting their lives and entire communities. • The good news is change is happening. Many organizations fight to improve girls’ lives, ensuring access to education, healthcare, and protection from harmful practices. Groups like UNICEF, Plan International and Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage lead the charge. • Over the years, the fight for girls’ rights has seen many victories: access to education for girls has increased worldwide, more countries are banning child marriage, and more girls are standing up for their rights. One prominent example is Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate who advocates for girls’ education rights. Her story inspires millions across the globe. • At Good People Everywhere, our mission is to connect those who want to make a difference. We believe working together can create positive change for girls and everyone facing challenges. We can support one another by fostering meaningful connections and building a network of kindness and impact. • Together, we are stronger and can be the change the world needs. • #GoodPeopleEverywhere #GoodPeopleApp #Community #Movement #GPE #InternationalDayOfTheGirldChild #GirlPower

🌍💪 International Day of the Girl Child 🌍💪 Today, we celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, a crucial observance day declared by the United Nations to shine a light on the unique challenges faced by girls around the world. 🌸 Girls everywhere confront obstacles that often go unnoticed or ignored. As of 2014, over 62 million girls had no access to education. 💔 Collectively, girls aged 5-14 spend 160 million more hours on household chores than boys. Globally, 1 in 4 girls are married before age 18, often stripping them of their childhood and future. Why does this matter? When we address these issues, we don’t just change the lives of girls — we transform entire communities. Educating girls leads to a reduction in child marriage, lower disease rates, and a stronger economy. Empowering girls means empowering a brighter, more equitable future for all. Let's advocate for every girl's right to education, protection, and opportunity. Together, we can help create a world where every girl can thrive. 🌱 How do you support girls' rights in your community? #DayOfTheGirl #GirlsRights #EndChildMarriage #GirlsEducation #EmpowerGirls #GenderEquality #UNWomen #FutureLeaders

Celebrating the International Day of the Girl 2024: Celebrating “Girls’ Vision for the Future” Today, we recognize the critical role that girls play in promoting their protection and that of their peers across various spheres of life. In a world where girls are disproportionately affected by global crises—ranging from climate change, conflict, poverty, and human rights violations, to inequalities and deprivations—it’s vital that we support girls in finding their voice and having the courage to use it. These challenges can have lifelong consequences, affecting not only individual girls but also generations within their families. Now is the time to listen to girls and invest in proven solutions that will have lasting, positive impacts on their lives, their families, communities, and societies at large. Let us come together to make a difference and create an environment where girls can thrive and lead the way towards human advancement. #DayOfTheGirl #GirlsVisionForTheFuture #GirlsLeadership #ChildProtection #IntergenerationalDialogue #GirlsRights #GlobalCrisis #InvestInGirls #AdolescentGirls ChildFund International

Today, on International Day of the Girl Child, we celebrate the dreams and aspirations of girls everywhere. This year’s theme, “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” gives us a glimpse into what they see for themselves and the world around them. We spoke to our Girl Icon Alumni, and their responses were a mix of ambition and stark reality. Many girls shared dreams of becoming doctors, teachers, and nurses—eager to graduate and make a difference in their communities. But, in contrast, some dreams were rooted in the pursuit of the most basic rights—like going to school instead of being forced into child labour at a young age. These visions are a powerful reminder of the inequalities that still exist. More profoundly, some girls are not only thinking of themselves but of their entire communities. They envision a future where violence against women is eradicated, where female foeticide no longer exists, and where every girl grows up in a society that respects her rights and dignity. At Milaan, we stand with these girls and their dreams, working tirelessly to create a world where every girl’s vision can be realized—a world where education, equality, and empowerment are within reach for all. How can we collectively create a society that values every girl's aspirations? #InternationalDayOfTheGirlChild #GirlsVisionForTheFuture #GirlsDream #MilaanFoundation #EndViolence #EducationForAll #EmpowerGirls #GirlsRights #EqualityForAll Tripti Srivastava Monika P.

According to the UN, Zeinab was a ‘youth’ when she was widowed. Few people are aware that at least 1.36 million of the approximately 258 million widows globally are child widows - girls who have lost their husbands while still in adolescence, that is, under the age of 18. This number is likely higher due to under-reporting. As a result of early marriages, these girls face challenges including financial instability and heightened vulnerability to violence from those around them. The World Bank indicates they are more likely to live in extreme poverty while cultural practices can further exacerbate their suffering. While the UN defines 'youth' as those between 15 and 24 young widows are generally overlooked in youth programming and development initiatives by NGOs, which rarely acknowledge their unique category. Because widows are perceived as older women, GFW has often found it difficult to get the attention of youth-focused donors and NGOs whose accumulated experience and interest in youth programming would make them ideal partners. GFW works with widows of all ages to build fair and sustainable futures. What does it truly mean to respect someone’s boundaries? Consent isn’t just a word—it’s a concept that can transform relationships and foster mutual respect. In this video, Dr Agni Kumar Bose and Dr Siddharth Warrier use relatable, everyday examples to unpack the importance of consent. From something as simple as offering a cup of tea to navigating life’s bigger decisions, they highlight how consent is rooted in understanding, communication, and respect. At the core of our campaign #BetaPadhaoDeshJagao is a belief that raising boys to be kind, empathetic, and respectful men begins at home. Imagine a generation of men who challenge stereotypes, respect everyone, and stand up for what’s right. This vision starts with us, as parents, mentors, and society.
