Boys & Girls Club Kids Interviewed About Their Experiences as Members By: Matt Cutrer Posted: Wednesday Oct 16, 9:00 PM DONATE HERE: bgcconchovalley.org SAN ANGELO, TX — The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Concho Valley offer some the most productive, effective, & necessary programs for our local youth that they often fail to receive from traditional schooling. CEO Tiffany Parker said it best by explaining that, “The Boys & Girls Club stands in the gaps for our local youth.” In other words, the programs and services offered by the Clubs are often real-world skills and practical thinking and application methods learned from programs such as Money Management, Premature Sexual Activity Prevention Programs, & much more. Unfortunately the local Boys and Girls Clubs are on the brink of staff downsizing & program cuts due to lack of funding. The Clubs are reaching out to the San Angelo community & surrounding areas for help & support. Many residents don’t realize that the local Boys & Girls Clubs rely solely on local donations/funding. In fact, many believe that the Boys & Girls Clubs receive grants/funding from the state or National level, which is not the case. We are calling upon the San Angelo & the Concho Valley community to activate its famous philanthropic prowess and put the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Concho Valley at the center of our community’s fundraising efforts. You can directly donate by clicking the following link or you can contact CEO Tiffany Parker if you or your organization is interested in setting up specific fundraising endeavors. DONATE HERE: bgcconchovalley.org If you are unable to DONATE, please @ least SHARE this post and others like it, during this campaign to help spread awareness throughout the Concho Valley. #sanangelosoup #sanangelotx #conchovalley #boysandgirlsclub #donate fundraising

At Piikup, our commitment to sustainability goes hand in hand with our dedication to empower and strengthen communities. As we strive to expand the green jobs sector, we recognize the unique challenges faced by multi groups and are actively working towards solutions that ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate in this vital industry especially those Black and LGBTQ+ people who aren't visible in the space. People that are often overlooked lack access to education and training: Many Black adults and youth face barriers in accessing the necessary education and training for green jobs. This lack of access shows up with in school youth and adults as limited access to STEM programs and sustainable technologies remain an issue. Education and Training Programs uplift as we are partnering with community organizations to create accessible training programs focused on green technologies and sustainability practices. We aim to reduce economic barriers and provide more opportunities for Black individuals to pursue careers in the green sector. We are committed to breaking down barriers and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Join us in this mission to make the green industry a place of opportunity and growth for all by donating to Piikup via our fiscal sponsor https://lnkd.in/gz4PUkCQ by writing Piikup GREEN JOBS in the subject. #GreenJobs #Sustainability #DiversityAndInclusion #InclusiveEmployment #BlackProfessionals #EcoFriendly #CommunityImpact #SustainableFuture

In order to empower women, end the cycle of poverty, and enhance communities, child marriage must end. We aim to raise a generation of women who can lead change, contribute to society, and build a future. A future where all women may live with dignity and freedom from oppression when we support girls' education and uphold their rights. Together, let's create a society where girls are respected for their ability rather than their gender. Join the Casey Foundation Africa in these efforts by donating at https://lnkd.in/ged3-uUE

🌟 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 🌟 Leading a team of 100+ 𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒔 has been an invaluable experience. Here are some key lessons that I carry with me: 1. 𝐁𝐞 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜: Understand and share the feelings of others. 2. 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: Great things take time, and understanding this fosters a positive environment. 3. 𝐁𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝: A little kindness goes a long way in building strong relationships. 4. 𝐁𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: Make sure your team feels comfortable coming to you with their concerns and ideas. These principles have not only helped me lead effectively but also shaped me into a better person. 𝑷.𝑺. BGCOB Community! Can you help us start our 95th year (yes, we have been here for local kids since 1930!) strong?!?! We are hopeful to have 527 individuals donate $95 or more before the end of 2024. If this happens, we will reach our campaign goal of $50,000. In 2025, BGCOB will continue to serve 500+ kid and teen members from our community. While we provide staples like homework help, mentoring programs, art classes, career development programs, and so much more, we've identified 3 goals for 2025: 1. Strengthen Program Offerings & Overall Club Experience - Club membership has grown by 28% the past two years, and our average daily attendance is up 90% during that time. More members + increased attendance = a good problem to have! Not only do we want to make sure this growth will not decrease the Club experience for the kids, but want to make sure we are able to keep making the experience better for all Club kids! 2. Increase Our Reach To Southside Bethlehem Youth & Families - We want our Summer Day Camp and Yosko Park programs to reach more young people; providing them with a safe and nurturing space during the summer months. We will be exploring ways to connect with those kids and their families during the school year, and how we can keep them engaged year round! 3. Improve Our Ability to Meet the Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs of Our Kids & Teens - Providing kids & teens with opportunities to express themselves, tools to manage their emotions, and a community of supporters & mentors is critical. This past year we've had art instructors from Banana Factory provide classes for our kids and teens, volunteers lead sessions on the zones of regulation, and programs guide them through topics including nutrition, relationships, and preparing for life after high school. Not only will we sustain these programs and efforts in the year ahead, but we want to offer them more frequently and for more Club kids! Please consider supporting our year-end campaign! Whether you donate $95, or simply share this on your page, we thank you in advance for being a part of our community...it takes a village. https://lnkd.in/eJaZhNeV

Educating girls, empowering communities. We all agree that in order to make the nation great, every girl has to be educated. Even lately, the government has been running various campaigns like Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao, that straight out says, protect women by educating them. Considering this very important point, SERUDS has started special causes that shed light on various aspects that help poor girl students to get everything they need. How can you make an impact in a young girls life today? As International Women’s day is fast approaching, we are reminded that as we empower girls, they are better positioned to become women that positively contribute to the advancement of their communities. Here are five simple ways you and I can empower a young girl today⬇️: 1. Boost her confidence through encouragement, showing belief in her abilities and potential. 2. Lead by example, demonstrating kindness and resilience as a positive role model she can emulate. 3. Support her interests in various fields like STEM, sports, or art, nurturing her passions and talents. 4. Volunteer to speak to young girls in schools, sharing your experiences and inspiring them to pursue their dreams. 5. Donate educational materials, even small items like pencils, to provide resources that can empower her learning journey. Which action will you take today? #SociaImpact #QualityEducationForAll #GirlsInStem

Today is Giving Tuesday – one of the biggest fundraising days of the year. At Rethinking Schools, we work daily to provide resources that bring inspiration and support to educators at a time when public education and social justice teaching are under attack. Rethinking Schools plays a vital role in exposing the backlash to social justice teaching and highlighting the resistance. But, the opposition hasn't spared us. As I write, legislation is moving that threatens the work and existence of justice-oriented non-profits. This is in addition to the harmful legislation that bans critical conversations about racism and oppression in schools, censors teachers, and polices LGBTQ+ young people and educators. We must continue building a base of educators and organizers who will resist this wave of restrictions. We can fight back and illuminate possibilities in classrooms and communities. Together, we can transform inequitable systems to build and sustain schools as sites of joy, truth-telling, and critical consciousness-building.
