Documentation is going to keep you sane. Founders, if your processes only exist in your head, you’re not building a business—you’re running on borrowed time. We’ve worked with 30+ founders, and this is the #1 mistake founders make: NOT DOCUMENTING!! Here’s why this is a critical mistake: → Your team becomes dependent on YOU: Every time someone has a question, they need to ask you. This means endless Slack messages, bottlenecks, and burnout—for you and them. → You can’t scale without chaos: Scaling requires clear systems, processes, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). If they aren’t documented, you’re setting your business up for disaster the moment you try to grow. → People leave, knowledge vanishes: When key employees leave without documentation, their knowledge goes with them. You’re left rebuilding from scratch every single time. → Onboarding becomes a nightmare: New hires spend weeks figuring things out because there’s no clear roadmap. Imagine the cost of wasted time and stalled productivity. → Your business isn’t future-proof: If you’re aiming for longevity, you need systems that outlast you. What’s one process in your business you know you should document but haven’t yet? Let me know in the comments!

If you’re using one of these 3 methods to document your business processes You’re doomed. But it’s also kinda cute you still: - Use Google docs and then search for your SOPs until retirement. - Draft SOPs on Post It Notes on your computer so your pet can chew on them. - Scribble SOPs on the back of a napkin since it brings back nostalgia from your early biz days. So because you’re kind of funny for doing all that (and I like you) In the below video I share Step 2 of systematizing your growing business: The Knowledge Capture. It doesn’t involve Google docs, Post It Notes, napkins (or searching for docs with the NYPD). But I go over WHY capturing your business knowledge And turning it into SOPs for scale is super important, especially during growth. And if you want to graduate from the old school ways of documenting your processes I feel extra generous today, so I’ll drop my favorite SOP documentation tools for you in the comment section.
