Today marks 💯 years of existence of the Singapore-Malaysia link causeway. A link that benefits both countries economically and socially. During COVID, when borders were abruptly closed in 2020 by then temporary PM of Malaysia, this posed a massive interruption to the lives of many. Economic trade, job loss and family relations were severely impacted with the outbreak and closure of borders. I remember some couldn’t even bid farewell to lost loved ones for people who work across the causeway. It was during this time that made me reflect how we should all appreciate simple things like connectivity. Connectivity is just like integration. Work-life integration for example or even integration between systems to people for that matter. With great integration, comes great connectivity. We seem to take for granted the beauty of connectivity in a fast-paced life when things are semi-automated. But, imagine a world where information can flow automatically without you lifting a finger, a world where AI can improve how you conduct and expand your businesses without taking too much time and effort. At the moment, QR codes have been implemented at Singapore immigration checkpoints to speed up the checks. Looking forward to more digital transformation at the immigration checkpoints. How life changing that would be?
Today, we celebrate the centennial of the causeway! For the past 100 years, this has served as a link between our two peoples. I look forward to strengthening the links and our relationship for the next 100 years. Singapore and Malaysia are working on projects in many areas — health, education, culture and trade, and in emerging areas like digital economy and renewable energy. Look forward to more win-win projects with Malaysia. (📸: Photo from National Archives of Singapore)

Having led The Coca-Cola Foundation through a transformation and transition, it is time for me to say goodbye. It has been a busy three years establishing a new strategic model that leverages collective partnerships and investment tools to deepen the Foundation's global impact and reach, recruiting a world-class team to execute the new strategy, and backing transformative programs that address some of the most pressing global challenges of our time. I cannot wait to see the results of the many recent collective action programs the Foundation shaped and contributed to: Climate resilience programs such as Recharge Pakistan (WWF), CI Ventures (Conservation International), Accion Andina (Global Forest Generation), Living Danube 2.0 (World Wildlife Fund), and Nature for Water Facility (The Nature Conservancy) to advance nature-based solutions that help vulnerable communities adapt to the impacts of climate change in a world where over the last two decades floods and droughts have impacted 3 billion people. Water innovation programs such as Source of Innovation (IDB Lab), Sustainable Access Solutions Fund (Imagine H2O), and Uptime Catalyst Facility (Uptime) to advance innovative solutions that provide access to safe drinking water in a world where 2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water. Circular economy programs such as IslandPlas (IUCN) and Nigeria Plastic Solutions Activity (TechnoServe) to invest in solutions and models to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy. Economic empowerment programs such as Change Make Her (Kiva), JOBS (Generation), and Jamii Femmes (WIA Philanthropy) that foster economic development and inclusion in a world where 3.4 billion people are considered economically vulnerable. Preparedness and relief programs such as the Caribbean Water Utility Insurance Collective (Inter-American Development Bank) and the Surge Fund (CARE) to protect communities against disasters and to enable an agile humanitarian response in uncertain times. Thank you to the nonprofits, funders, and stakeholders who partnered with us to bring the new strategy to life. The list is long. I am grateful to you and my team for the engagement, the partnership, and the memories. https://lnkd.in/dWwcQaqk

Minerals | Resources | Energy | Infrastructure Technical Director: Environmental Management, Permitting & Compliance CEnv, MCIWM, CRWM, M.I. Soil Sci., FGS, FIQ, CL:AIRE QP 448 [email protected]
Couldn't agree more Roisin Ellis and a huge thanks to Esha Lovatt for organising and Viridor for hosting. It was great to be able to tour Viridor's #Avonmouth ERF with the SLR Consulting EMPC team. I think 13 of us made it down to Bristol so perhaps we ought to superimpose the other 12 or so members of the team who were unable to make it to show our full team numbers?! its been a great 10 weeks so far working with our extremely capable Environmental Management, Permitting and Compliance team. But I have also been blown away with the depth of experience in our wider c. 1200 strong UK and Europe teams in particular our fully integrated #landquality #airquality #energy #industry #hydrogeology #sustainablewaste #groundassessment #minerals #geology #planning #landdevelopment #advisory #processengineering #esg #mining #sustainabilitysolitions and #duediligence capabilities, to name just a few. #oneteam #energyrecovery #waste #resourcerecovery #energy
Had a fantastic day yesterday at EMPC's Team Day! 🎉 We kicked things off with an insightful site walk at the Viridor Energy Recycling Facility, where we learned so much about their innovative processes in sustainable waste management. 🌍🔄 The day wrapped up with some fun and friendly competition at Flight Club in Bristol—a great way to unwind and connect with the team! 🎯 A big shoutout to Esha Lovatt for organizing such a well-rounded day and to everyone who made the journey to Bristol. It was great to see everyone come together!

🎁When I took this role, I got a nice welcome present from patrick mercier 📖 just finished this great read about the power and responsibility of businesses and brands A lot resonated: ❤️how Mars Wrigley Purpose of *Inspiring Moments of Everyday Happiness* is important as ever, ⭐️how our Brands like M&M’s, Freedent, Maltesers contribute to bulding a world where everyone can be him/herself ✅How we support consumers in making right for them choices: - not advertising to below 13 years old - moving our portfolio to smaller in calories portions - Having transparent communication on ingredients on packaging 🍀How we play our role of contributing to the better world tommorow: - Cutting on travel generating CO2 - moving to 100% fossil free production like our Ice Cream factory in France All with the ambition of acheiveing net zero by 2050 Thank you the present again and for creating good moments for reflection on the Power of Benevolence
