Good morning LinkedIn! As you may know, some charities are deliberately working to shift power to people with lived experience of the issue their charity faces, in areas such as leadership. But I’ve found that not many are doing this proactively in their approach to 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴. So I was fascinated to talk to Lulu Smithwick and Shukry Adan about the progress that’s been made in recent years at Refugee Action, and how this has helped to improve both the narrative that is told and fundraising results. In this podcast episode, they explain how the process has been positive for those with lived experience and they describe some of the creative ideas and insights that have contributed to, among other things, a 25% increase in results for a Christmas appeal, improved high value fundraising and a hugely successful Radio 4 Appeal.
