Last month I sat down with the Payment Systems Regulator's Dan Moore to discuss what the regulator's key priorities were for 2025 and beyond. We also touched on fostering innovation in the UK's payments sector and the PSR's role in removing barriers to innovation, promoting fair competition, and creating sustainable commercial models that drive investment in UK payments. Throughout 2024, Innovate Finance is teaming up with FinTech hubs across the UK to host a series of regional policy events, providing a forum for firms to share their views on our FinTech manifesto ahead of the general election 🇬🇧 We want to hear from FinTechs across the UK on their priorities and how the next government can best support the sector 🚀 Our Manifesto has been developed with members through our policy work and calls on the next government to adopt a ‘FinTech first’ approach, recognising the role FinTech can play in tackling some of the biggest challenges facing the UK. From the environment to the economy, FinTech can support the next government and play a positive role across the UK. Our goal is to ensure that the UK remains the best place in the world to start, scale and build a FinTech business, wherever they are based 🌟 In our Manifesto we set out 3 big ambitions for the next government: 1. Build the world's first smart data economy 🌐 2. Make the UK the most secure place in the world for consumers and businesses to use digital finance 🏦 3. Make the UK the world leader in adopting new technology in finance 🤖 Get in touch if you want to contribute 📩 🖇 You can find out more details about our Manifesto at https://lnkd.in/gPGN7ndB #VoiceOfFinTech #FinTechRegionalRoadShow #FinTech #UKFinTech

🇬🇧 The UK government has outlined a bold vision for the future of financial services, placing its confidence in the Financial Conduct Authority (#FCA) to deliver key priorities: 🚀 Promote effective #competition: Ensuring a level playing field for all players and expanding consumer choice. 💡Champion innovation by Building and Solidifying the UK's position as a global hub for FinTech. 🙏 Foster a thriving business environment: Providing regulatory certainty and streamlining processes to attract and retain firms. 🎉 Prioritise financial inclusion: Ensuring accessibility and inclusion in financial services for individuals and businesses alike - one which is very dear to not only my heart but the entire team at Ecommpay. This is a sense of #hope, especially after the Fintech Founders #annualsurvey that the The Labour Party and the FCA, with its commitment to consumer protection and market integrity, will focus on navigating this ambitious agenda and ensure a prosperous future for the UK financial sector. Massive changes in Fintech in Scotland 🏴 - who knew?! Yesterday and today, I was lucky enough to be at a few events in NY organized by FinTech Scotland, Scottish Financial Enterprise, with assistance from the Department for Business and Trade, Scottish Development International and others. I know I have been talking about Space 🛰 , Life Sciences 🐑 , and Climate 🌦 sectors as interesting opportunities for investors in Scotland, but we need to talk about Fintech 💰. Some facts: ➡ FS Sector in Scotland contributes over GBP 14bn to economy, and is largest exporter (50% more than whisky!) ➡ Scotland is 2nd largest financial hub outside of London in UK ➡ In past few years, the number of fintech companies have gone from 26 in 2018 to over 200 now. ➡ Scotland's FS sector employs over 150,000 people ➡ There has been over GBP1.6bn investment into sector in part 4 years. ➡ Scotland FS is only cluster in UK to obtain "European Silver" status. The sector is supported by Scottish Financial Enterprise and FinTech Scotland to develop the sector and entire ecosystems. Their innovation strategy has a number of key streams that bring industry, academia, regulators, and others together to work on solving broader FS / fintech use cases. They include: 👉 Leveraging Open Finance data to help drive collaboration across industry players. 👉 Payment & Transactions 👉 Climate and sustainable finance 👉 Financial regulation: creating an independent environment for regulators and industry players to innovate. During our roundtable this morning, kindly hosted by, Alex Ford from Encompass Corporation, we discussed some of the opportunities for Scotland's finest fintech to enter global markets, and in particular, North America. 🏁 Net Out: We have an established market and experience across buy- and sell-side of markets. We have the talent and expertise to solve global challenges. We have the innovation, research & development. NOW -- We just need to put ourselves out there into these global markets, build the relationships, and show everyone what we have! Reach out to myself or anyone below to discuss how we do that: positioning, pitching clients & investors, relationship building, and understanding #culture in global markets. Excited (and proud!) to announce the launch of The UK FinTech Impact Report 2024 in collaboration with Innovate Finance and the FinTech Innovation Lab London The impact of the UK FinTech sector stretches far beyond just financial performance. In addition to being a major catalyst for productivity and economic growth in the UK, a huge amount of impactful work is being done to address financial inclusion, broaden access to finance for underserved communities and SMEs, build financial literacy, and equip people with the data necessary to make more sustainable choices. However, this report shows that there is still more work to do. Cross-sector collaboration is essential to tackle challenges like financial crime and the environmental impact of rapidly growing technologies like AI. A huge thank you to the entire team for all their contributions to this report. I look forward to working with our partners to turn these insights into meaningful action.
