🌱𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 is transforming the way we farm!🌱 Interestingly, 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐬 currently occupy 32.8 million hectares (11.2%) of agricultural land in Europe and the US. It is truly inspiring to witness the growing adoption of this 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞, with adoption rates projected to reach an incredible 80% by 2035. 🌿 Transforming fields in Europe and the USA, cover cropping involves deliberately planting non-cash crops such as legumes, grasses, or brassicas between cash crop cycles. By covering the soil, this method decreases erosion, enhances 𝐬𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, and boosts biodiversity. [#Farmer Portraits] 🌟 🌾This week we're highlighting Mark Pybus, a farmer based in North Yorkshire, UK, who joined our programme in 2021. Since then, Mark has made incredible strides in #sustainablefarming practices, such as: 🌱Starting direct drilling in 2021 and implementing regenerative practices techniques. 🌱Increasing his cover crops by 10% in the early stages of 2022, with a further 50% expansion recently by the end of 2023, in less than 2 years. 🌱In just a few short years, Mark has been rewarded already a total of £17,000. One of Mark's key achievements? Doubling his soil carbon storage since his initial baseline assessment!
