The most important day of the year…? 🌱 Generation-Re invests in soil - the regeneration of it through the agricultural and food businesses we support. Soil is the foundation, and as The First Thirty points to, the first 30 cm of soil is where the biological life and carbon are stored - this is the basis for all life on Earth. The First Thirty Naeem Lakhani and Koen van Seijen, host of Investing in Regenerative Agriculture and Food are the founding team, and they came together for a purpose to make investing into soil health accessible and impactful. It’s all about soil. So Happy World Soil Day … we might say it’s the most important day of the year 🪱🙌🏻🌻 #regenerativeagriculture #soil #soilhealth #investinsoil

🌱𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 is transforming the way we farm!🌱 Interestingly, 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐬 currently occupy 32.8 million hectares (11.2%) of agricultural land in Europe and the US. It is truly inspiring to witness the growing adoption of this 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞, with adoption rates projected to reach an incredible 80% by 2035. 🌿 Transforming fields in Europe and the USA, cover cropping involves deliberately planting non-cash crops such as legumes, grasses, or brassicas between cash crop cycles. By covering the soil, this method decreases erosion, enhances 𝐬𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, and boosts biodiversity. If you care about the world around you, it’s impossible not to think about the future and consider what type of footprint you’ll leave behind. Every decision we make creates a ripple effect, and it’s up to us to ensure that those ripples contribute positively to the well-being of our land, water and communities. At its core, successful sustainability is maintenance, not an improvement—and we need to aim much higher. Please download our FREE E-Book to learn more about regenerative agriculture, and contact us if you have any questions or feedback. https://lnkd.in/gs8KUAk4 #holisticmanagement #regenerativefarming #ontag #ontariobeef #ontariopoultry #ontariopork

Today is World Soil Day! 🌱🌍 Healthy soils are essential for life, providing the foundation for sustainable agriculture. This year's theme, “𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐬: 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞”, emphasizes the importance of accurate soil data and information. At Biobest, we recognize the vital role soil characteristics play in thriving ecosystems. A great example of this is our program to monitor the colonization of 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢, a beneficial soil fungus and the active ingredient in our product Asperello®. By analyzing root and soil samples from growers, we check how well 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢 establishes itself in substrates and soils using selective agar plates. 🌿 Want to work together to create healthier soils and a more sustainable future? Boomitra empowers farmers and ranchers to switch from conventional to regenerative practices, increasing carbon drawdown. But defining “regenerative agriculture” in a single sentence isn’t easy—it’s not a one-size-fits-all method. Instead, it’s a dynamic approach to land management, rooted in holistic principles like: 🚜 Minimizing soil disturbance 🥕 Maximizing crop diversity 🍂 Keeping soil covered 🌱 Maintaining living roots year-round 🐂 Integrating livestock Rather than prescribing specific practices, we empower our local implementation partners to tailor solutions to each region’s unique needs. Whether it’s reducing tilling in India or rotational grazing in Argentina, our approach is adaptable and effective. 🔗 Learn more about regenerative agriculture from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC): https://lnkd.in/eCk9V4vC 🔗 Explore Boomitra's regenerative projects across the globe: https://lnkd.in/ggiB4hUm #regenerativeagriculture #soilhealth #soilcarbon #carbonremoval

In a powerful TED Talk, the speaker highlights how the richest soils on Earth have been shaped by grazing animals—like those on the U.S. plains and Africa’s Serengeti. These animals play a crucial role in building deep, nutrient-rich topsoil, contributing to a more resilient ecosystem. Studies show that grass-finished beef, for example, can even surpass wild salmon in omega-3 content. Adopting regenerative agriculture—using fewer chemicals and incorporating animals—could help combat climate change, improve soil health, and support nutrient-rich food. This isn’t just theory; it’s an actionable path towards sustainability. Watch this talk to learn how supporting regenerative practices can make a real difference for our planet. 🌱 #Sustainability #RegenerativeAgriculture #ClimateChange #HealthySoil

A question that’s asked ALL the time. What is the difference between regen and organic? 🤔 It can be tricky navigating these terms in agriculture but our CSO and co-founder Edward Hill quickly breaks this down in under a minute. While both movements seek to reduce off-farm inputs and chemical inputs, regenerative farming also prioritises soil health + elevating the social and economic status of our partner communities! And if you have more than a minute to learn more, click the link in the comments to read a blog entry by our Head of Regenerative Agriculture, Mari Stuart, which goes into depth about the two agricultural movements 💚 #fashionisfarming #regenerativeagriculture #regenfarming
