It was great to be part of the planning process for the departments Youth Day event at COP29. Facilitated by our Climate Ambassador Kristin Tilley (DFAT) and featuring a great panel lineup: Kupakwashe (Plan International) Tom (Climate Change and Natural Capital) Jahmaica (Our Islands Our Home Youth Alliance Ambassdor) Tebaiti (Pacific Youth Climate Champion) Our Youth Day panel shed light on the vital role young people play in shaping climate action: • Beyond One-Dimensional Engagement: Governments must engage with youth and in their communities. • Cultural Barriers: Many young leaders face challenges navigating traditional hierarchies, balancing respect for Elders when stepping into leadership roles. • Frontline Realities: Youth from the Torres Strait shared the urgency of living with the direct impacts of climate change. • Shared Wisdom: Elders offer resilience and traditional knowledge, while youth bring passion, innovation, and a vested future—both voices are essential. • Breaking Barriers: From co-designing accessible processes to ensuring climate education and opportunities, youth are pushing for systemic change. This conversation reaffirmed that youth leadership is not a box-ticking exercise—it’s a necessity. Let’s keep amplifying their voices!
Young people are powerful agents of change. 💪 Their voices offer unique and innovative approaches for designing and implementing ambitious climate policy and action. To achieve meaningful collaboration with young people, we're creating tangible pathways for youth-led ideas to influence policy outcomes. 💡 At our #COP29 Australian Pavilion, we've created a platform where young climate leaders can express their perspectives, share their achievements, and discuss pathways for amplifying youth impact in climate policymaking across our regions. Follow updates from the Australian Pavilion in Baku to see young people take centre stage 👉 https://brnw.ch/21wONvT #COP29Aus #COP29Azerbaijan #ClimateAction #Sustainability

The intersection between food insecurity and water is inseparable. Glad to represent TNC’s work with companies on this panel in Baku to decarbonize their supply chains and create greater resilience for farmers. Highlighting critical data from TNC’s Foodscapes Report, water irrigation efficiency is currently only 20-30%. If water use efficiency is increased to a reasonable standard, like 90%, we could decrease removal of water for agriculture by 15%. TNC is doing our part to make this a reality.
REMINDER: if you are at #COP29 this week, join #SIWI, Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA), International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO/RIOB) , to explore water-focused climate solutions that advance global adaptation and resilience goals. 📆Tuesday 19 November 🕙 10am AZB time 📍 On-site at #COP29 - Nasimi, Zone B This event will emphasize the vital role of water in addressing climate challenges and feature insights from youth, women, and Indigenous leaders. #ClimateResilience #WaterForClimate #2030Solutions #COP29

📣 Happening today at #COP29 at the #Portugal Pavilion! Join our partnerships and events Project Lead for an event on Intergenerational Justice and Climate Action. Integrating long-term thinking is fundamental to defining public policies capable of responding effectively to the climate crisis facing Humanity. Only in this way will it be possible to avoid acting only having in mind the problems that seem most urgent, which, despite the immediate pressure they may exert, may not be the most pressing, or whose short-term resolution may lead to solutions that exacerbate medium / long-term problems. Let's act now to leave a better planet for future generations! 🌍🌿 #COP29 #YouthInAction #IntergenerationalJustice

What do you know about #climatemisinformation and its impact on #youthadvocacy? 🌍🤔 These topics are incredibly close to my heart, and tomorrow I'll discuss them with Rethinking Climate and The New Global Order at the Youth Pavilion of #COP29, alongside the amazing Asia Guerreschi, Barbara Monticelli, and Andrea Grieco. 🙌✨ We encounter daily forms of #disinformation and #misinformation, even within COP itself. It's crucial to understand how to filter information, make sense of it, and act thoughtfully. ✅🧠 This event won't be a theoretical discussion but a practical session offering tools and real-life examples on how to counter misinformation and disinformation effectively. 💡🛠️ In the meantime, I recommend exploring a parallel initiative: I-ACT (Italy & International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Action for Climate Toolkit). This "peer-to-peer" training toolkit for international youth activists includes a strong focus on debunking false narratives and empowering action. 💪📚 If you're curious, I highly recommend reaching out to Marco Gervasi and Aurora Audino for more information. 📎 Attached is a short interview I gave with #LetMeBreathe, where I briefly discuss the importance of tackling climate misinformation.
At #COP29, Stefano Cisternino from the Joint Research Centre underscores the critical role of clear, science-based communication in tackling the climate crisis. He emphasises the importance of academics leading with facts, while activists amplify change through grassroots mobilisation and storytelling. Together, they can counter misinformation and build trust to inspire collective climate action. Follow along as innovative solutions take centre stage at #COP29! 🌍✨ #EverythingForTomorrow #ClimateAction #COP29 #SustainableSolutions #EnergyInnovation #GlobalClimateSummit #COP29Azerbaijan

#COP29Azerbaijan #COP29 Youth Climate Change Champion's remark on meaningful youth engagement. Youth are already disproportionately impacted by climate change, we need to meaningfully engage them in the global climate action agenda, decision making, and provide finance to enhance their actions. 🌍 Youth Voices: The Catalyst for a Greener Future 🌱 The dreams and aspirations of today’s youth are the seeds of tomorrow’s sustainable world. But here’s the question: What role do their voices play in shaping the greener future they envision? Youth bring fresh perspectives, boundless energy, and innovative solutions to the table. They challenge the status quo, demand accountability, and inspire collective action. Their voices are not just important—they’re essential to creating sustainable change. It’s time to celebrate and amplify the voices of young people who are reimagining our world. Their passion for the environment and commitment to sustainability can drive the change we desperately need. To the youth out there: Your voice matters. Your ideas matter. Step up, speak out, and lead the change for a brighter, greener future. To everyone else: Let’s uplift and support the younger generation as they pave the way toward a more sustainable planet. Together, we can transform their vision into reality. 💡 Let’s spark a conversation: What actions can we take to empower youth to lead the charge for a sustainable future? #Sustainability #YouthEmpowerment #GreenerFuture #ESG #ClimateAction

👩💼 Women make up around 80% of climate-displaced individuals, but their voices are often overlooked in pivotal climate change discussions. Women’s experiences and perspectives are key to more effective and sustainable decisions, strengthening their communities and enhancing their well-being, but not all of them are given the opportunities to realize their potential in the conservation space. Of the 78 world leaders present in this year’s 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) family photo, only eight were women. Our solution? In less than two weeks, The Nature Conservancy is initiating the Nature’s Leading Women program to bridge this gap by bringing together women leaders from around the Asia Pacific and Africa. Committed to helping women drive positive change, this program will connect them with the resources, opportunities and support they need to develop and lead their own climate solutions. 🔗 Watch the full video below and read more about the impact of Nature’s Leading Women: https://nature.ly/3V3hVby Robyn James #NaturesLeadingWomen #WomenInNature #COP29 #TheNatureConservancy

In the fight against climate change, we need voices of all kinds to come together to discuss solutions. This is exactly what happened last week at the United Nations' COP29 conference in Baku, Azerbaijan. With the Ocean Pavilion having key programming themes such as Ocean Justice & Equity, Blue Economy & Finance, and Ocean Voices, COP29 was a hub for gathering diverse perspectives on equity & shared responsibility. COP29 also saw women at the forefront of ocean conservation, including Lavenia Naivalu of Nacula, Fiji, who spoke on Indigenous sovereignty in ocean conservation and the demand for changes in decision-making. #COP29 #oceans #DiverseVoices #IndigenousVoices #WomenCausingWaves #OceanAllies
