Last weeks Ocean Allies webinar was a powerful reminder of why inclusivity and Indigenous perspectives are vital to the marine industry. Sarah Thomas shared many insights that resonated deeply, including: "The inclusion of Indigenous perspectives in the marine industry is not just beneficial; it’s essential for the sustainable stewardship of our oceans." During the webinar, Sarah helped us explore the barriers Indigenous communities face regarding ocean sector careers, the importance of cultural competency, and the immense value of traditional knowledge in creating a sustainable blue economy. Thank you to Sarah and all who attended for such an engaging and impactful discussion. If you're curious to learn about programs that support Indigenous involvement in marine careers, like Clear Seas Indigenous Marine Career Advancement Program, please reach out to Sarah or Ocean Allies!
