Did you know that this month is American Red Cross Month?⛑️ It's important to recognize the vital role that the organization plays in supporting communities across the country. One of the most critical areas of focus for the Red Cross is home fire prevention and relief. Every year, thousands of families are impacted by devastating home fires, and the Red Cross is there to provide support and assistance in the aftermath. As one of their Safety Campaigns, the Red Cross works to educate families on fire safety and prevention. In addition, they offer resources and support to help families get back on their feet after a fire, including temporary shelter, food, and clothing. This month, let’s take a moment to recognize the incredible work that the American Red Cross does to keep our communities safe. Whether it’s through volunteering, donating, or spreading the word about their important mission, we can all play a role to help make a difference! #americanredcrossmonth #americanredcross #providingaide #safetyfirst #firesafetyeducation #fireprevention #firerelief #jackwardfireconsultants #originandcausefireinvestiation #fireinvestigation

"The earth will not continue to offer its harvest, except with faithful stewardship." -St. John Paul II Happy #EarthDay! 🌍 It's the perfect opportunity to share how Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska is answering the call and leading the way in #sustainability (one of our core values!) and environmental responsibility. We invite you to join us in our efforts to be good stewards of our environment by donating new or used items to CSS. Our goal is to extend the lifecycle of your donations through regifting, reselling, or recycling them and therefore mitigating the potential of your items ending up in the landfill. ♻️ Client needs are our first priority. When you donate an item, we evaluate how it can help our clients the most- by either regifting it to a family in need of that specific item or by reselling it. All funds from resold items are then used to assist clients and families needing financial assistance for rent, utilities, medical bills, or fuel. If we cannot regift or resell your item, we recycle it so it can be repurposed and help the environment. Join us and together, we will make a #HopeInTheGoodLife difference! 💚🧡💙 Learn more at csshope.org.

Black Friday is a completely bizarre concept to me. On the one hand, it's an opportunity for products that are over hyped and way over priced to become affordable for the many.. especially in the sporting industry. But this then highlights the insane mark up and profits these companies are making generally if they are able to offer these ridiculous discounts. I'm an ambassador for a brand who have asked ambassadors to promote Black Friday sales and I just can't buy into it. However, the initiative here from Finisterre is something I could really buy into. There has to be a way to strip back the b****cks and offer sustainable and meaningful actions to days such as Black Friday, or Cyber Monday or whatever other marketing ploy there is. We're way past fast fashion, crazy discounts, marketing ploys that don't add benefit to any of us, we need to be better, chapeau Finisterre.
For four years, we've resisted the Black Friday markdown frenzy, choosing instead to focus on creating a positive impact for our oceans and communities. 🌊 Thanks to your support, we’ve donated over £35,000 to initiatives like adapting wetsuits, teaching children to swim, and making the ocean accessible to historically excluded groups. This year, we're proud to partner with Surfers Against Sewage and The Surfrider Foundation, two organizations leading the charge in ocean conservation. 🌎 From Friday to midnight Tuesday, we’ll donate £2/$2.50 for every order placed to support their incredible work. Together, we can help protect our oceans for generations to come. #OceanConservation #BlueFriday #Finisterre

As a continuation to my post from Monday where I shared about my involvement as a Board member for the School Garden Support Organization, I wanted to expand on my “why”. And why my purpose and passions are centered on supporting equitable learning, school gardens, sustainability, and representation. Today, the majority, ~70% of agricultural workers are foreign born migrants. They are the backbone of our food supply chain, yet often are not given basic human rights or access to the systems/programs we all take for granted. Often, they are the center of vitriolic language and unfair policies; Our farm workers do not receive the respect they deserve. I would like to see dignity and pride in farm work restored. I would like to see agriculture in all forms seen as a meaningful career path. An industry that is valued as significant and has high importance; And that we support through our education system. How can we honor our migrant workers, and the legacies of Caesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta? I think it starts by supporting organizations that teach youth the importance of gardens, farming, sustainability, and communities. It is then we can truly “Honor the hands that harvest your crops.” - Dolores Huerta #purpose #passion #advocacy #nationalfarmworkersawareness #sustainability #community #leadership https://lnkd.in/gccx4yyy
🌱 It's National Farm Worker Awareness Week! This week we honor the farm workers who are the backbone of our food supply and celebrate their invaluable contributions to our communities. 🍇 Regardless of the multitude of challenges farm workers face, such as climate change, immigration, lack of worker protections and pesticides, farm workers remain resilient and continue to work tirelessly to ensure that there’s food on our tables. 🔦 Stay tuned this week as we shine a spotlight on the challenges and issues impacting these essential workers and learn how you can help the workers who put food on our tables. 🤲🏽 This week, please consider making a donation to the UFW Foundation. Your donation goes towards programs and advocacy for farm workers, their communities and families. To donate, go to https://lnkd.in/gtzc7Bfm

Healing from practices and beliefs that harm communities helps end injustice and enables people to thrive. It's best when communities lead the healing themselves: this blog shows an example of community-led healing and funders following a community's lead.

June is National Homeownership Month, and we're celebrating by sharing research, statistics and evidence all month long on why Home is the Key to a better present and brighter future. First off, we wanted to take a look at who has access to homeownership. Check out this research series from Habitat for Humanity investigating the trends in homeownership, including how factors such as race play a role. Have you ever wondered why so many nonprofits seem to show up in your feeds and inbox on Giving Tuesday? If you don’t lead or serve with a nonprofit or ministry, it might be a mystery to you. Maybe all the pleas for support even annoy you a little bit. Why all the social media posts and emails about giving to these different organizations? Why is each one making their plea and asking you to “give in order to make a difference”? This was my first Giving Tuesday as the director of a ministry. Leading a nonprofit is both deeply fulfilling and uniquely challenging. You’re not really running a business and you don't have a product to sell. Ministries like ours depend on the shared vision and generosity of others to thrive. The “product,” if you can call it that, is positive change: the prospect of positive outcomes. The money you give funds the efforts of the leaders and agents of the ministry to do the good work and spread the good word about it. The Shepherd's Refuge exists to increase pastoral resilience. Many pastors feel immense pressure to appear strong even when they’re struggling. Too often, pastors only seek help after they’ve burned out or resigned. Your gift can ensure they receive care before it’s too late. We all recognize that pastors play an important role in the health of local churches. Your gift today will provide counselling sessions, coaching resources, and other services to pastors. Every dollar you give helps pastors rediscover and maintain good health, benefiting their churches and communities. Please follow this link to partner with The Shepherd’s Refuge in this important ministry. https://lnkd.in/g-MA4r8B

Further, teach your children service by living it. Teach zero sum of everything does not equal win/loose, instead, it’s connection to our human existence, our ingenuity and free thinking, innovation bolstered by our connections through serving, creating win/win. Teach and live by you winning equals a win for others too (the definition of service). #iheartutah #betheexample
Utah is where the American Dream thrives. We lead the nation in charitable giving, upward mobility, social capital and so much more. Why is Utah so great? We care about people besides ourselves, it’s as simple as that.
