People do not realise how important land price is in the production of calves. This is where Africa has a absolute advantage in the production of calves and if we can get food and mouth under control the small-scale communal farmers will benefit extremely. Agricultural development always focus on modern technologies while in Africa we have already the knowledge and the property rights sorted out on cattle.
Cow-calf producers can initiate a dynamic shift in the US beef cow herd during the rebuild. Pasture and rangeland management, herd genetics and monitoring, and emerging technologies and incentives are three areas where producers could achieve gains in both productivity and #sustainability.
