Not to brag, but my article with Harvard Business Review was *very* well received. A huge part of that success I owe to my editor AND the fantastic Erica Holthausen. I'd never written for a high visibility publication before #HBR. And every question I had about how to do this and how to do it well was answered in Erica's intimate group program. And that very same program is starting up again on April 23. In 90 days, you'll: 1️⃣ Select a publication. 2️⃣ Write and edit a high-quality, original article (Yup, that's what I did). 3️⃣ Pitch that article to your chosen publication (Yup. Did that too, but for another publication that's coming up). 4️⃣ Develop an editorial calendar with 12 additional article ideas (Yes, Yes and YES). 5️⃣ Develop a plan to use your articles to help you achieve your business goals (hella did this). The program is called Pathway to Publication, and you can learn more here: https://lnkd.in/exmRprJE The only way I was able to get any of this done was because of the work parties she hosts (with timed assignments) as a part of the program. Her focus really is on implementation; not just learning, but doing. If you're interested, there are four spots left--last I heard. Apply through the website or reach out directly to Erica via DM (she likes to talk to folks before bringing them in, so she can put together a well-matched peer cohort).

There's a simple question you can ask to stand out in your niche. This question helped me become one of the top writers on Medium in the most competitive topic on the website → self-improvement. The question is simple: What do you disagree with? Point out the differences in your philosophy vs everyone else's and you'll create a category of your own. I'm sharing more insights like this at this Thursday's workshop, The Authority Blueprint. Tickets are just $100. Reverse your spot here: https://lnkd.in/dKevH-QG

Participants in my courses on writing better board papers are always surprised when we calculate the cost of their board pack. Have you ever calculated how much it costs to produce your board papers? Try it for yourself and you'll be amazed! Start by estimating the average hourly cost of the people writing the papers, add the hourly cost of the reviewers, the portal or distribution costs, the time cost of directors reading the papers, and an appropriate amount of time for handling questions about the papers. Cross-check your number with this: The average executive in Australia spends up to 30% of their time on work for the company board. The uncalculable cost of bad or sub-optimal decisions is the elephant in the (board)room. A poorly written paper that misses a key risk or fails to provide a clear understanding of the important issues is a missed opportunity to make a better decision. Getting papers right is good for business. That is why I was so pleased to read this article in The Australian Financial Review based on British research. A 9000% return from training people to write better sounds like a very good investment. Next course is in SYdney on 7 June - more details here: https://lnkd.in/gdyTGXBr Get a 15% discount as a 1st Connection using the promo code "1stConnection" when you book. #boards #governance #papers #directors

🚀 Exciting News from Creativity and Innovation Management Journal! We are thrilled to introduce a new submission possibility in our journal: CIM #FastTrack Articles. 🌟 These papers undergo an expedited review process (accepts the paper, possibly with minor revisions, after one round), ensuring that impactful, high-quality research reaches the academic and professional community faster than ever before. Authors who want to follow the Fast Track should indicate this in the submission system. They also need to state this clearly in their cover letter. The cover letter should also explain why the paper is particularly exceptional and well-suited for this expedited review (e.g., for the #contributions or for the potential #impact). Like any submissions for CIM, the fast-track submissions will be triaged by a managing editor. For these submissions, the potential to be accepted (with minor changes) in the first round needs to be clearly visible. If the submission is approved for the fast track, the initial review is conducted through CIM’s normal double-blind process. All reviewers will be aware of the fast-track character of the submission.
