FuelsEurope’s Post

🇪🇺 Liana Gouta, Director General of FuelsEurope, participated in the 3rd General Assembly of the Renewable and Low-Carbon Fuels (RLCF) Value Chain Industrial Alliance, which took place on the European Commission premises and accounted for more than 200 participants. The Alliance, launched in 2022, aims to ensure that aviation and waterborne transport have sufficient access to low-carbon fuels while considering the future use of these fuels in land-based transport, thus contributing to the reduction in the transport sector’s GHG emissions by 90 per cent by 2050. ✈️🚢 FuelsEurope Director General stated that the EU Fuel Manufacturing Industry fully endorses the climate neutrality goal. She highlighted that the sector has been at the forefront of innovation, transforming existing refineries into #biorefineries, scaling #renewablefuel production, and ensuring that liquid fuels continue to support sectors like #aviation and #maritime, where decarbonisation is most challenging. Liana Gouta underscored the unique value of the RLCF Alliance in uniting stakeholders, serving as well as a place to develop strategic thinking on renewable and low-carbon fuels not only for environmental purposes but also for preserving the EU strategic autonomy and its security of supply. 🤝 Additionally, Liana moderated the Member States’ panel and exchanged best practices and challenges of national implementation of ReFuelEU Aviation and FuelEU Maritime with Brigit Gijsbers, Jakob Haugaard, Kevin Guittet and Federico Navarro Cabrera. On the path forward, she emphasised the role the Member States have, as they can help shape better policies, create a supportive environment for renewable fuels, promote cross-border collaboration, share best practices and facilitate connections between public and private partnerships. 🍃 FuelsEurope stands ready to support these efforts, offering technical expertise and working hand-in-hand with stakeholders to build a resilient, low-carbon future. 🔗 Read our “More than a Manifesto – An offer for Europe” to learn how the Fuel Manufacturing Industry can contribute to the European climate ambitions: https://lnkd.in/gfZEFnPC
