🚀Good entrepreneurs need better business angels! 🚀
This is one of YAngel's most important mottos. But where does it come from?
Our founders Rui Falcao and Pedro Bandeira are angel investors who both started out as founders. What unites them today is what they both often miss in the relationship between founders and investors. Founders need more than just money from investors, they need support along the way. But not all support is equally good 🔍
Now they want to improve support for founders by guiding investors on how to be a “good” investor, which of course ultimately leads to higher returns on the investor side 💰

3 Key Qualities Angel Investors Look for in Founders:
As an #angel#investor, I focus on the #founder as much as the idea. Founders who succeed in securing #funding tend to have these 3 qualities:
1. Resilience.
2. Adaptability.
3. Vision.
These traits are critical, especially in fast-moving sectors like startups.

Great news for diverse founders in the UK!

The fund is backed by a prestigious group of investors, including the British Business Bank, The University of Edinburgh, and Atomico. They've also attracted prominent founders like Taavet Hinrikus (Wise) and Ilkka Paananen (Supercell).
This is fantastic news for the UK startup ecosystem, and will hopefully lead to even more exciting companies emerging in the coming years!

Darlings, like many others in my field, I was intrigued to listen to the recent podcast by brilliant Harry Stebbings with Nicholas Chirls, and boy, was I entertained!
I absolutely agree with both of them — the venture capital model is overdue for disruption. Instead of chasing short-term profits and trendy sectors, we should focus on supporting founders tackling overlooked, transformative projects. Too many investors rely on guaranteed management fees, avoiding the real risk-taking that leads to long-term success.
The thesis that the key to winning in VC is backing founders who obsessively work in "unsexy" sectors that may not be relevant today but will define the future is 100% on point. Yes, many funds raised in 2020/2021 will likely fail to deliver returns, but we can change that outcome by focusing on high-quality, visionary projects.
On the second note, the idea that not everyone should be an entrepreneur is a harsh but necessary truth. Building a startup is an incredibly hard experience, and aspiring founders and investors have to think long-term and decide whether they're willing to commit to this lifestyle for the next decade of their lives.
The overall idea that it’s time for investors and founders to align on values, embrace risk, and build the future together — far from the fear-driven, banker-like approach that dominates today, is a promising vision for the industry's future. #Transformation is possible if we rethink how and where we invest. Let’s fund the projects that will drive real change, shall we?
