At FET, our mission is clear: to prepare each child for a fulfilling and independent future, tailored to their unique needs and aspirations. In my latest blog, I explore the four key areas that guide our approach: Skills for Living – Building independence and decision-making skills. My Family, My Friends, My Community – Fostering safety, connection, & belonging. Health, Happy, Creative Me – Promoting well-being & self-expression. My Learning, My Earning, My Volunteering – Empowering lifelong learning & contribution. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ea7g8SbB

As I'm sure many of my followers have seen, I volunteer with Chapter One UK through Deloitte, spending 30 minutes reading online with the same child each week. I have the pleasure of reading with two wonderful children, and get so much from helping to transform their reading confidence and ability. Today is World Book Day®, which is about getting more children, from all backgrounds, developing a life-long habit of reading for pleasure, benefitting from the improved life chances this brings them. This #WorldBookDay, I want to show that there is no right or wrong way to enjoy reading, and that you can #ReadYourWay. For me, this is reading a book before bedtime, but if it's a really good book and I can't put it down, I might be seen carrying it around with me! I also love sharing my passion for reading with the two pupils. Find out more about Chapter One: www.chapterone.org/uk. And if your organisation promotes volunteering, consider getting involved. #ImpactThatMatters

A majority of the support received by newcomers in recovery is given completely on a volunteer basis by dedicated individuals in the rooms of recovery fellowships. Service work creates volunteers who are dedicated to their own sobriety and to the sobriety of others. We would be remiss not to recognize and thank both these individuals IN recovery, and ALL those who help us at Fellowship Hall through our many events. From our Walk for Recovery, to the Golf Tournament, to the Conference—we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without you all. Thank you to ALL volunteers! Looking for a way to get on the path to recovery? We’re here to help.
