"It’s one of the amazing things about Olympic Dam – we haven’t found the bottom of it yet" - Anna Wiley If you have an interest in the mining sector, how copper is used in our modern lives, or South Australia's economy, take a few minutes to read Anna Wiley's speech below. At the Copper to World Conference in June, Anna shared the vision for the next phase of growth in the Copper SA region. The projects discussed signal a transformative time not only for BHP but also for South Australia's position as a global leader in copper production. Over the next two years, we’ll see some remarkable developments, either in study or actively development phases. Each of these projects is a piece of the larger puzzle that will see South Australia emerge as a copper powerhouse, with production potential that exceeds 500 kilotonnes per annum of copper. While these projects are still in their early phases, they offer a glimpse into what’s to come for copper in our state. It’s an exciting time for BHP, for South Australia, and for anyone keen to be part of these growth projects! #majorprojects #growth #copper #study #delivery #projectmanagement #southaustralia #economy

What are the #geoeconomics of #mining and #critical #resources for #transition? A few takeaways from a great debate with global leaders here in Rio at the #FIIPriority #ImpactOnHumanity summit: 🟢 On the road to transition, ability to think and act #longterm is the main differentiator for both countries and corporations; 🟢 #Protectionism is no miracle: #IRA boosted the US local demand for EVs but did not solve the issue of critical resources; 🟢 New resilient #supplychains are being designed in the context of increasing world #fragmentation, fueled by #geopolitics; 🟢 Ability to deliver #sustainable #mining at a fast pace will be a key success factor for the global #energy #transition; 🟢 #Brazil intends to be a leading enabler in the global supply chain of #materials and #renewable #energy for the #transition; 🟢 South-South partnerships emerge to provide #decarbonization solutions e.g. for the steelmaking industry: ➡️ See Vale mega-hubs in the Midsle-East to produce #lowcarbon footprint products 🟢 High-quality, green, responsibly-sourced #lithium will be key to power the next generation of #electric #vehicles: ➡️ See the solutions developed by actors like Sigma Lithium Corp. (Nasdaq:SGML) Thank you Eduardo Bartolomeo, David Snydacker, Ligia Pinto and José Luis Manzano for an inspiring discussion. And congrats Manus Cranny for a great facilitation.
