Morning all, On the week the nation sees the new Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 brought into law, we thought we bring you a unique perspective from Ireland where fair tipping was implemented on December 1st 2022. In our latest episode, I had the privilege of speaking with Oli Cavanagh,Founder of Strikepay, about how they’re reshaping digital tipping across hospitality and service industries. 💸 Here are some highlights: Strikepay was born during the first week of the 2020 lockdown, addressing the decline in cash usage. Their solution? Transforming any phone into a payment terminal with NFC tags and QR codes. This past weekend was centered around family, friends, and food! 🍷 On Saturday, I enjoyed a wonderful dinner with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while. On Sunday, it was a loooong lunch with the extended family — the kind that only wraps up at 5 PM! 🕔 When we finally reached the payment part 💳, it got… complicated. Picture this: 30 people, each family paying for a different amount, in a charming farmhouse 🌾 serving local produce with an old-school vibe.
