🚨 Exciting news on Defence Technology and Innovation! The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has successfully conducted the first full-scale sea test of the cutting-edge Manta Ray prototype, developed by Northrop Grumman. This advanced unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) represents a significant leap forward in our capabilities for marine exploration and security. The Manta Ray UUV is engineered to operate autonomously across vast oceanic distances, capable of "hibernating" on the seabed and resuming its mission as required—all without human supervision and with no need for refueling. This breakthrough allows for extended, sustainable missions and opens up new possibilities for environmental monitoring, maritime security, and underwater research. This test marks a critical step in the evolution of underwater drones, aiming to enhance the United States Navy's operational flexibility and technological edge in marine environments. The implications for future missions and capabilities are profound, promising a new era of underwater exploration and security operations. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible beneath the waves! #DARPA #NorthropGrumman #MantaRay #UnderwaterDrones #Innovation #MarineTechnology #USNavy

The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) has awarded contracts to Anduril Industries, L3Harris Technologies, and Swarm Aero to develop prototype software for managing massive drone swarms under the Replicator rapid-production initiative. This effort, part of the Autonomous Collaborative Teaming (ACT) program, focuses on automating coordination across uncrewed systems in multiple domains. Aditi Kumar, DIU's deputy director for strategy, emphasized the need for open, government-owned software architectures that can integrate with various hardware systems, ensuring adaptability and scalability. Anduril’s Lattice platform has already proven its capabilities in real-world tests, enabling seamless integration of uncrewed systems and data for faster threat detection and mission execution. The Replicator initiative also includes Opportunistic, Resilient & Innovative Expeditionary Network Topology (ORIENT) awards to bolster drone communications in contested electromagnetic environments. These efforts align with the Defense Department’s strategy to deter Chinese military action in the Pacific, leveraging lessons from Ukraine’s maritime drone successes in the Black Sea. Adm. Sam Paparo of U.S. INDOPACOM highlighted the critical role of autonomous systems in denying adversarial dominance at a low cost. He further noted the balance between human oversight for offensive missions and increased autonomy for rapid defense, showcasing the transformative potential of advanced drone technology in modern warfare. #defenseinnovation #dronewarfare #autonomoussystems #militarytechnology #replicatorinitiative #anduril #latticeplatform #nationaldefense #pacificsecurity #emw Source- https://lnkd.in/gU3-sieF
