Well said Dr Sarika Verma Absolutely agree! The government's move to restrict BS3 petrol and BS4 diesel cars in Delhi-NCR is unjust and poorly thought out. Why should the common man, already burdened by rising costs, bear the brunt of policy failures? Instead of penalizing citizens with heavy fines of up to ₹20,000, why not hold the Health Minister, Road and Transport Minister, and other relevant officials accountable for their lack of foresight and action throughout the year? This last-minute implementation reeks of incompetence and mismanagement. If the government was serious about air pollution, they would have focused on systemic changes like improving public transport, stricter industrial regulations, and better urban planning. Instead, they take the easy route of harassing honest citizens. This policy needs to be boycotted and opposed by all – enough of punishing the public for the failures of those in power!

🚨 230 000 EUR fines in road transport inspections accross the EU 🚨 The European Labour Authority supported a large-scale action across 12 EU Member States in partnership with ROADPOL uncovering some significant irregularities. Key findings: 👉 690 vehicles checked 👉 377 infringements identified 👉 over EUR 230,000 in total fines 👉 302 enforcement officers involved 👉 20 EU Member States involved 📣 “Drivers have the right to spend their weekly rest in a suitable place - not in the cabin of the truck. They have the right to sleep in a real bed and have access to adequate sanitary facilities. We have seen for instance in Belgium, drivers sleeping in inhumane conditions. We are working together with the EU countries to find ways to stop such practices affecting the working conditions of drivers, and also to make it possible for companies to compete correctly in the EU single market", said Cosmin Boiangiu, Executive Director of ELA. Alongside driving and resting time violations, the infringements included tachograph manipulation, roadworthiness issues, unsecured loads, and missing documents like posting declarations. 🔧 More action coming in 2025! Tens of thousands of train fare evasion prosecutions brought under the controversial single justice procedure (SJP) may be "unlawful", according to a judge. About 75,000 prosecutions brought by train companies, including Northern Rail and Greater Anglia, could be quashed. The SJP allows up to 40,000 court cases a month to be decided in private, often by a single magistrate without the defendant appearing in court. Train operating companies were given powers to prosecute alleged offenders under the SJP in 2016, but many cases against alleged fare dodgers were wrongly brought under the Regulation of Railways Act 1889. The judge suggested that up to 74,860 convictions may have been legally unsafe. #legal #law #courts #magistrate #trains
