As an artist you can get used to seeing your work in your own studio setting... It always feels different when you see it in an exhibition setting or even in its final resting place in someone's home! For me, I think this sort of makes the work feel closer to finished. It is sometimes hard to distinguish when an artwork is finished or not. It's often more about when the artist decides to stop working on it 😅 Knowing when to stop can be one of the biggest challenges sometimes. "8" – The First Work That Never Ends Bernd Bartolome's work "8" represents an entirely new hybrid form of performance that consciously dissolves traditional boundaries between reality and artificial creation, between authenticity and identity. The eight protagonists embody archetypal forms of human behavior, yet it remains unclear: Are they human or machine? This deliberate ambiguity raises questions about the verification of identity and challenges the audience to rethink the boundaries of art. ‘8’ opens up a range of staging possibilities through its polyvalence. It can be realized as classical theater, ballet, a chamber piece, or as an interactive installation, with no hierarchy among these forms. Each mode of presentation offers new perspectives. This new artistic form makes ‘8’ a constantly evolving work that can be continually re-staged and adapted to different contexts. ‘8’ adjusts in real time to any language, as well as to any linguistic and cultural context.
