"CII Industry-Academia Partnership Awards 2024" Recognising Organisations for Excellence in R&D and Innovation through Partnerships While India's 40th position out of 132 countries in the 2023 Global Innovation Index is encouraging, it also reveals key areas for improvement. A critical gap lies in university-industry R&D #collaboration, where #India ranks a disappointing 66th. This disconnect highlights the need for a stronger #bridge between academic research and its practical application in industry. This synergy is vital to unlock India's true innovation potential globally. Furthermore, India's R&D sector faces challenges such as relatively low investment compared to developed nations, a shortage of #researchers, and a fragmented approach. However, there's a bright side. The Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India reports in 2023 that over 100 innovations have emerged from industry-academia #partnerships in just three years. This success story emphasizes the transformative power of collaboration between the #industry and #academia. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 further reinforces this vision by prioritizing robust industry-academia partnerships to transform India's education sector. By working together, universities and industries can bridge the gap and become a powerful engine for national growth and development. To foster this transformative research #ecosystem, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been recognizing excellence in both sectors for years through the Industry-Academia Partnership Awards. As a jury member for the 2024 edition (applications due August 15th, 2024), I'm excited to identify and honour the top performers who are propelling India towards an innovation-driven future. #universities #parternshipawards #CII #awards #academicinstitutions Confederation of Indian Industry

Building a Sustainable Future: Technology, Education, and Capital 🌱💡💰 I just had the privilege of joining a panel discussion at CUHK in collaboration with the St. Gallen Symposium, where we explored the path toward a sustainable future. Our conversation focused on the TEC triad—Technology, Education, and Capital—as essential pillars for driving real impact. Technology: Innovation isn’t just an option; it's a necessity. Technological advancements are reshaping the landscape, offering new tools to tackle sustainability challenges more effectively. Education: Knowledge is power. Understanding sustainability and its nuances is crucial for every individual, community, and organization. Without a solid grasp of these issues, we can’t expect lasting change. Capital: Our resources need to be strategically allocated. Knowledgeable investments are the backbone of sustainable growth. Only by aligning capital with impactful, responsible projects can we secure a resilient future. Together, these elements create a framework for building a more sustainable world. Thank you to everyone involved for such a thoughtful and inspiring discussion. Let’s continue to bridge technology, knowledge, and resources for a greener tomorrow.
