🥎 Recap Time! 🥎 Certainly late to the game in covering but I wanted to highlight the 2024 Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational, Presented by EvoShield. It marked its fifth consecutive year of electrifying softball action, featuring 16 powerhouse teams, including renowned names like LSU, UCLA, Texas, FSU, and Georgia, competing in 40 thrilling games. This tournament has evolved over the years, blossoming into a premier event showcasing some of the nation's top softball programs. From its modest beginnings, it grew to attract attention and admiration from fans nationwide. But it wasn't just about the game on the field; it also significantly impacted our community. St. Pete/Clearwater estimated that upwards of 8,000 fans filled the stands over the four-day event, injecting over $11 million into the local economy. Events like these underscore the growing prominence of college softball, especially regarding revenue generation. With the rise of women's sports, there's been a surge of interest in collegiate softball, drawing attention from both fans and sponsors alike. While softball may not be synonymous with the massive revenue streams seen in some other sports, stars like Montana Fouts and Maya Brady are emerging as notable figures in the sport, paving the way for potential NIL opportunities in the future. The Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational is more than just a tournament; it's a catalyst for the growth and development of college softball. By circulating news and updates throughout the sports world, these ultimate competitive showcases not only generate revenue but also serve as a platform to attract more eyes to the sport. They play a crucial role in elevating the profile of college softball, fostering its growth and development. Despite being a former collegiate baseball player and avid supporter of the sport, I still find myself tuning into more and more college softball games than anything else. If you’re a sports fan, the Clearwater Invitational is certainly a must-watch in February of next year! #NCAASoftball #NCAA #NCAAsports #Softball #NIL #CollegeSports #ShrinersClearwaterInvitational

🚨 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁🚨 My basketball responsibilities are over for 23-24 as our season ended in the first round of the NEPSAC playoffs last night. Sometimes, the ball just won’t go in the basket and foul trouble on a small team is a killer. But man, am I proud of the way this group simply refused to give up. I challenged them in the locker room before the game to think about their ‘why’. Which person or people in their lives would they be playing for today. Many people, particularly these days in youth sports, talk a lot about individual statistics and accolades. “How many points did you score?” And not “How did the TEAM do?” I wanted them to find deeper meaning and motivation and pushed them to play for something bigger than themselves. There are always 5 people on the court at a time in the same jersey. There is always the support of teammates and coaches on the bench. I watched it ‘click’ for many of them in that moment. Stats do not matter. The team matters. The people that love and support you matter. The result wasn’t what we wanted, but it was an incredible feeling to watch them exert every ounce of energy they had for 32 minutes. To hear the girls on the bench encouraging their teammates the entire game. To watch them dive for every loose ball and fight for every rebound. Make the extra pass and pick up teammates when they hit the ground. Sports are so often a metaphor for life. Ups and downs. Highs and lows. This team went through it all. Together. And they became something bigger than themselves. They became a #team. And it was a privilege to be a part of it. Until next year. Go Bulldogs! 🐾🏀 #youthempowerment #youthsports #basketballcoach #basketballcoaching #independentschools #athletics

Great perspective on the system.
TRYOUT SEASON IS AROUND THE CORNER! Clubs will sell their "Pre" programs to get you in the door. If you want the best experience for your child, do not base it on your bragging rights to friends and neighbors. There is only one question to ask a Director of Coaching: Can I see your long-term development plan for your players? We would not accept it if our academic system had teachers educating the kids on random topics and no process. Why do we accept it in sports?
