In a first-of-its-kind trial, we’re partnering with a leading renewable energy company - ScottishPower - to support vulnerable households through #WarmHomePrescription. The trial focuses on low-income people with cold-sensitive health conditions who live in homes with low Energy Performance Certificate ratings. We aim to deliver measures for 1,000 households with a long-term ambition of supporting up to 2,000 households. Mark Murphy, Head of UK Government Obligations at ScottishPower said: “Our aim is to deliver ECO4 home improvements, and their benefits, sooner rather than later, the quicker we deliver the sooner recipients can live in a warmer home.” Discover more: https://orlo.uk/iwRkZ

Wales shines as the beacon of progress in renewable energy adoption, delivering an exceptional start to 2024! 🏴🌱 With a record-breaking number of heat pump installations in just the first quarter and an impressive 8.74% of households embracing small-scale renewables, Wales is truly setting the pace within the UK. Ceredigion leads the way with nearly a quarter of homes powered by clean energy, closely followed by the Isle of Anglesey, demonstrating the region's commitment to a sustainable future. This surge in eco-friendly uptake is largely attributable to the ECO Grants Scheme, which facilitates free installations for low-income families, creating greener homes while mitigating the sting of energy expenses. Local heroes like Menai Heating Limited are pivotal in this movement, with over 220 MCS certified installations this year alone, symbolising a dual victory for both economic and environmental spheres. Yet the question lingers, will the rest of the UK follow in Wales' footsteps to foster a nationwide green revolution? 🤔 #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #WalesGreenLeader

New research from Liquid Gas UK reveals that 80% of rural consumers in Northern Ireland feel that their unique energy challenges have been overlooked by the Executive. With 76% of households off the main gas grid, and 63% relying on heating oil, rural communities face significant barriers to decarbonising their homes. There is a strong appetite for alternative energy solutions, with 62% of voters supporting policies that allow them to keep their current heating systems and switch to renewable-ready boilers that utilise renewable fuels such as bioLPG and rDME. It's clear that Northern Ireland needs to prioritise practical, sustainable solutions to meet the energy needs of its rural population. 🌎 𝗔 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻! 🌎 The closure of the Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station in Nottinghamshire marks a significant milestone in the UK’s journey towards a sustainable future. As the last coal-fired power station in Britain, its shutdown signifies the end of an era that began with coal power in 1882. This historic moment highlights the country's commitment to clean energy and reducing carbon emissions. The transition from coal to renewable energy sources not only helps combat climate change but also paves the way for a greener, healthier environment for future generations. As we move forward, the focus on innovative energy solutions, including solar and battery storage, will play a crucial role in powering our homes and businesses sustainably. Let’s celebrate this achievement and continue working towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy landscape! #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #CoalFreeBritain #EnergyTransition #GreenFuture

A few years ago, under the Ontario Government’s MicroFit program, we installed this advanced solar system on the Glebe Parking Garage. This installation is a shining example of how solar energy can be seamlessly integrated into urban infrastructure. The City of Ottawa benefits greatly from this system by selling the generated energy back to the grid, creating a sustainable profit stream. It's a win-win situation: clean energy production, reduced carbon footprint, and economic gain. #SolarEnergy #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #SolarPowerExpert #UrbanInnovation #CleanEnergy #Ottawa #MicroFitProgram #SustainableProfit #EnvironmentalImpact

The NSW Government's just launched the Consumer Energy Strategy, with $290 million in funding to help homes and small businesses embrace energy-saving tech like solar panels, batteries, and heat pumps. With a $238.9 million Home Energy Saver program and new energy ratings for homes from 2025, this plan is all about cutting bills, reducing emissions, and making the energy transition easier for everyone. It's a positive step toward a more affordable, sustainable future. NSW Premier, Chris Minns, said, “Through the strategy, we are making it easier for households and small businesses to access the cost saving benefits of solar panels, batteries and heat pumps, while they reduce their emissions. NSW Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Penny Sharpe, added, “This will not only lower energy bills but also benefit our environment. The New South Wales Consumer Energy Strategy is our plan to supercharge the energy transition and put households and small businesses at the centre of this work.” More details: https://lnkd.in/g5VHGsun Pic from Getty Images. #nswconsumerenergystrategy #newsouthwales #nsw #nswgovernment #australia #climatenews #climate #environmentalnews #sustainabilitynews #planetearth #blueplanet #oceans #climatechange #climatescience #renewables #renewableenergy #ecofriendly #conservation #climateaction #socialimpact #climateeducation #surfersforclimate

Footprint Zero is calling on the UK Government, particularly the Energy Secretary, Ed Miliband, to introduce a preferential feed-in tariff specifically for solar energy generated from on-roof and car park installations. This initiative aims to prioritise solar developments that do not encroach upon valuable agricultural land or natural landscapes. Rupert Harrow, Founding Director of Footprint Zero, emphasised the importance of updating government policies to reflect the potential of rooftop solar: “We commend CPRE The countryside charity for their excellent work in advocating for more on-roof solar. It is crucial that the UK Government introduces incentives to prioritise on-roof and car park solar over ground-mounted systems. The original solar feed-in tariff was instrumental in driving the adoption of solar PV across the country, and it is time to revisit this policy to ensure that we maximise the use of available roof space.” Read the full release - including calculations showing that all the UK's electricity needs could be generated by on-roof and car park mounted solar. https://lnkd.in/eYRWXwCX #netzero #solar #footprintzero
