The discussion centered on the vital role of collaboration in scaling African businesses, reinforcing that the journey to entrepreneurial success is a shared endeavour. This year, a dream I’ve nurtured for so long became a reality. Out of 150,000 ambitious applications from 54 countries across Africa, my journey began. The competition was fierce, and the process, rigorous. From these thousands, only 35,500 applicants made it to the shortlist. I was one of them. At the first-level screening, 17,884 stories were carefully reviewed—mine included. Next came the EY verification, where just 3,460 entrepreneurs were vetted. The numbers continued to dwindle, and out of 2,115 selected participants, only 1,200 made it as finalists. As I represented the 35% of female applicants in the 10th Cohort of the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program, I felt both humbled and empowered. This wasn’t just about me. It was about proving that Ancol Cakes and More could be a beacon of sustainable entrepreneurship, creating impact and redefining possibilities. This program has given me access to mentorship, an incredible network of like-minded changemakers, and the seed funding to scale my business. But beyond the resources, it has given me validation—a testament that the dreams of an African entrepreneur can thrive with resilience and the right support. For me, this is more than just a highlight.
