Like most buildings in New York City, 345 Hudson Street previously used separate systems for heating and cooling. Now, through a vertical network of Energy Machines™ heat pumps, heating and cooling are integrated into a single system. Waste heat, which is typically expelled outside, is instead recovered and redistributed throughout the building, drastically reducing the need for additional energy to generate heat. ⚡️ The Energy Machines™ integrated system at 345 Hudson operates with staggering efficiencies exceeding COP 9 and cuts the building’s annual CO2 emissions by more than 70%. These significant emissions reductions will exempt the 17-story property from the city's upcoming CO2 taxes, allowing the building owner, Hudson Square Properties (HSP) to avoid more than $200,000 in CO2 fines annually. HSP is a joint venture of Hines, Trinity Church Wall Street, and Norges Bank Investment Management. 🍃 Learn more about 345 Hudson, New York's model decarbonization retrofit project, via the new Canary Media article linked in the comments. #integratedenergysystem #wasteheatrecovery #thisisanenergymachine
