Great time at the Innovation DuPage holiday party last night. Sighted working the room students Olamiposi O. Gabriel Trejo and alumnus Karam Hasan and we also saw Professors Jobi Abraham Jim Kulich and Professor Emeritus Extraordinaire (and soon to be an added) E-celerator volunteer Bruce Fischer. What a wonderful evening.

Innov8rs.co is starting a new on-line learning labs series (https://lnkd.in/eY6J_ePs). I joined several in the past as it is a inspiring way to upgrade your skills as innovation professional. And this time I get the chance to share my experiences on boosting sustainable innovation with sustainable portfolio management. In the same session JoAnn Garbin will talk about the regenerative future, so should be a nice session!

GGA recently supported 10 exciting and diverse innovation projects outlined in the video here https://lnkd.in/gXJgmaKw The projects were led by external stakeholders and funded by the Australian Government’s Agricultural Innovation Hubs Program, with support from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) and was initiated through the South-West WA Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub. Focus areas ranged from paddock-level carbon benchmarking to drone-mounted grazing monitoring for the southern rangelands and improved vineyard floor management. "The GGA’s innovation mindset centres around aligning research, development, extension, and adoption with the practical needs of the agricultural sector. We address grower-led challenges by bringing grower groups, farmers, researchers, policymakers and industry experts together to co-design solutions that transcend traditional boundaries. This strategic alignment ensures that innovation is not confined to laboratories but translates seamlessly into on-the-ground practices. By promoting sustainable, resilient, and adaptive agricultural practices, we continue to support the pursuit of a more robust and future-ready state." says GGA Innovation Manager Jo Wisdom.

Adopter categories When innovation is introduced into any social system, there are very few people to immediately accept and put them into use and some farmers take very long time to accept and use it. All farmers do no adopt at the same time and differ in their approaches. Apart from other factors, one of the concepts that brings variation among farmers is innovativeness. Some innovations are readily accepted by farmers, while some others are not readily accepted by farmers, even after a long period of time and some innovations are not at all accepted by the farmers. According to Rogers (1971), the farmers based on their innovativeness can be classified as 1) Innovators (Venturesome). 2) Early adopters (Respectable). 3) Early majority (Deliberate). 4) Late majority (Skeptical). 5) Laggards (Traditional). All members of a social system do not adopt an innovation at the same time. Rather, they adopt in an ordered time sequence, and they can be categorized as early adopters or late adopters depending on when they first use a new idea. It is highly useful for extension workers in a technology transfer programme to identify individuals who are likely to adopt innovations early and those who are likely to lag behind

Fostering an #innovationculture An absolutely great example, in the talk below by Pedro Bizarro, to remind leaders of how important #learning and #researching are to innovate. I highlighted a few key ideas as hashtags and want to reinforce a golden one: it is not something you do on weekends or spare time, it is #importantwork you need to have slots of time for you to do it with #purpose. #establishgoals #posehypothesis #fail #reachsuccess #futureleaders #reservetimefor
How can companies create a culture of innovation? 🧠 Pedro Bizarro, Co-founder and Chief Science Officer at Feedzai offered invaluable insights on fostering innovation during his talk at Innov. Club last year. Let’s revisit his advice and learn how to create an environment where innovation thrives! Check the video 👇

Last week was my first time attending the Yale Ventures Innovation Summit, which was a really cool way to see the CT ecosystem come together. I wasn't aware of the breadth of work coming out of this network (thanks Erika Smith for letting me know about it!). Seeing so many people from bio, materials, climate, health, and humanities come together made for some really interesting conversation (and not something I'm used to experiencing at very bio-heavy conferences). One of the talks I really enjoyed was Matt Truppo's discussion around the work Sanofi (and others) are doing when it comes to leveraging digital advances across the drug R&D process. He encouraged the field to think about advances in a more step-wise way -- taking something down from a few weeks of work to a few hours is a big deal, even if you haven't fully automated your process. You don't need to make binary leaps ('manual process' vs 'AI process') to reap big, compounding gains. Listening to the biotech company pitches also made it clear that now, more than ever, there's a need for running a focused pipeline, with a clear plan of what assets you're prioritizing, what data you're generating, and what experiments you need to be running. For those interested, we recently published a piece on why this is so critical in biotech: https://lnkd.in/eTSEKBpE

The world is blurring the lines between breakthrough technologies and hype. This is often used by startups to show what the public wants to see. However, we at Releaf Paper believe that all real innovations sooner or later end up on the European Olympus - European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) This is certainly not an end in itself, but an important test for technology validation and a springboard to recognition, the European investment market, and global scaling. For Releaf Paper, innovation is the DNA that underlies everything: our technology, our strategy, our product. Dozens of international awards are proof of this. But the European Innovation Council holds a special place for us. A year ago, we became one of the few beneficiaries of the EIC program. Last fall, Ursula von der Leyen devoted 2 minutes of her speech in the Ukrainian Parliament to our company. And this summer, we are opening the world's first pulp production facility from green waste, co-funded by the European Innovation Council for €2.5 million (€3.5 M total). Michiel Scheffer, your organization does incredibly important things for innovators. Keep going, and we'll bombard you with inventions that will change Europe.
