We discussed a wide range of highly relevant topics at our practical workshops in London earlier this week- key points:
- Hiring practices: Navigating privacy rules when undertaking comprehensive background checks of candidates; legal/compliance considerations when providing references for former employees
- Challenges in EMIR Refit implementation (expanded transaction reporting requirements, report standardisation,... ): reminder to build in sufficient time for pre-go-live testing where major changes to reporting frameworks are made
- Governance: Fund board effectiveness, succession planning, shadow boards, how a fund manager can get the most out of their board, important reminder: governance goes beyond ticking compliance boxes!
- Trade errors and insurance: Key considerations for managers negotiating contractual arrangements, key questions for investors to ask in due diligence to assess coverage.
The last topic also featured in the SBAI's recent publication: Trade Errors, Omissions, & Breaches - Pursuing Operational Excellence:

Looking forward to the next workshop today on "Winning and Keeping Institutional Mandates".

We thank our host Swiss RE for their hospitality and our discussion leaders Mush Ali (One Ten Associates), Simon Holt (K2 International), Steven Lightstone & Louise Skinner (Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP), Geraldine Quenin (Capital Fund Management (CFM)), Shiv Taneja (Fund Boards Council | Certified B Corp) and Tom Wheatley (Watson Wheatley) for their engaging contributions.
Congratulations, what an achievement 🎉🎉
