The latest insights on global financial wellbeing from nudge are a hopeful read. What strikes me is the amount of people now thinking about retirement and longer term financial goals. Moving through cost of living, people had a real focus on day to day and controlling costs, which we of course still need to do. But now it's interesting to see in this research and in our own user data so many people shifting their focus to learning how to build for the future. Early retirement is a popular goal, with 70% of Gen Z employees (the highest proportion of any generation) wanting this aspirational goal. It's striking that even with this hope, a relatively small amount have the knowledge and long term plan to achieve it. With retirement average age rapidly increasing, younger generations need to start to plan for the future. The report uncovers there is a real opportunity for employers to help increase financial literacy to help their people to achieve their goals.
