Limassol Chamber’s findings on Sustainable Mobility Questionnaire The questionnaire, provided in both Greek and English, was accessed exclusively through a QR code and was available to all participants of the 5th Sustainable Mobility Festival that took place at the Limassol Marina. The European Commission has set goals to achieve smart and sustainable mobility, such as reducing transport emissions by 90% by 2050 (as part of the European Green Deal), for the EU to become a climate-neutral economy. Achieving these goals will require the full commitment of Member States and their local authorities. The questionnaire gives us a good picture of the current situation in Limassol, citizens’ preferred mode of transport and suggestions to implement sustainable mobility. Below are the main findings: 🚲🚌🌎 https://lnkd.in/eW_C-Cfq

How can investing in sustainable infrastructure in Latin America create more opportunities for economic development, improve wealth distribution, and contribute to decarbonization? Additionally, how can the technical expertise of companies like DB E&C, in collaboration with governments and financing organizations, help bring more sustainable rail solutions to the transport and logistics sectors? These are some of the questions we discussed during the IDB Invest Sustainability Week in Manaus. Carsten Puls Gustavo Gardini
DB E.C.O. Group at the Brazilian Sustainability Week From June 11-13, a delegation of DB E.C.O. Group, including Carsten Puls, Peter Mirow, and Gustavo Gardini, participated in the Brazilian Sustainability Week. This event, organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) serves as an important platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, and we are proud to have been part of this year's edition. Coming from a company with recognized expertise in sustainable infrastructure and mobility solutions, our very own Carsten Puls, Executive Director Latin America, states his key takeaways from the event: "The Sustainability Week is an impressive and well-organized gathering, involving key players, especially from the financial sector. I believe that in the future we might have even more conversations on sustainable mobility and specifically on railway, taking into account that in Latin America this mode of transportation is being prioritized for both freight and passengers. There is already more awareness and statistics show that rail mode can make an important contribution to meeting sustainable development goals and boosting the region's economy. Some of these statistics have shown for example, that compared to freight transport by road, freight transport by rail is more environmentally friendly, saves space, and is more efficient: a truck emits 110 times as much CO2, requires three times as much traffic space and, with the same energy consumption, travels only around a quarter of the distance of a train. We are pleased to have been in Manaus, representing the railway sector, participating in valuable discussions with important stakeholders from the IDB and other parts, as we work to position rail projects that aim to achieve sustainable mobility in Latin America and the Caribbean.” Congratulations to the organizers for this successful event and thank you to all the participants for their valuable input.
