As a Broward County community member and founder of The Official Glue, I have decided to enhance our business involvement by joining the Broward Schools Business Excellence program hosted by Broward County Public Schools. This program aims to provide valuable insights to elevate small businesses and help them increase their visibility within the community. The session offered opportunities to network with other local businesses and learn from highly regarded community experts like Dr. Reggie R. Lewis, Maribel Feliciano, AICP, Diana Agenor, and Samuel Chesser. 𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐘❓ Creating a combination of online visibility and community engagement is how you create valuable leverage for your growing business. Here are a few points to keep in mind when leveling up your community engagement: 👉🏾𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗧𝗦 Be mindful of how your participants will positively impact your business. 👉🏾𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗔 𝗪𝗜𝗦𝗛 𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗧 Outline the community partnerships you would like to develop and seek aligned conversations. 👉🏾𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗘 Be prepared to ask questions and make vocal contributions. In the intertwined realms of my local and virtual communities, I've found unique and fulfilling ways to weave connections and give back, blending digital and physical worlds to create a richer tapestry of engagement. It all starts in the heart of my neighborhood, where I dive into the vibrant life of local-ish clubs and organizations. Each meeting and event with these groups isn't just about sharing interests—it's about crafting lasting bonds and contributing to communal efforts, from mentoring to fundraisers. Speaking of mentoring, I share with those just starting (or looking for a new point of view) their entrepreneurial journeys. But my community spirit doesn't stop at the city, county, and state limits. Online, I extend my reach globally through forums and social media groups that resonate with my passions. Here, I engage in lively discussions, share insights, and offer support, building a network of friends and colleagues who are both like-minded and diverse. When possible, I attend virtual conferences and webinars, where I absorb cutting-edge knowledge and connect with thought leaders. This landscape offers endless opportunities to grow and network without ever stepping outside. My community involvement is both my path and destination, enhancing every experience and interaction. Last Wednesday, I met many community builders from the Vancouver tech scene! I enjoyed getting to know them and participating in this event. Key insights and takeaways: - There were so many leaders from different communities who came to this event to collaborate with one another for organizing events and community building. This shows a lot of commitment from the Vancouver tech community leaders to make Vancouver a tech hub. - Newsletters and email lists are important for growing awareness about events to people. - If the cost of an event is free, a large percentage of registered people will not attend. On the other hand, expensive events mean almost everyone attends. There is a compromise between the two, where you can have cheap events, like a $10 fee, which can act as a commitment to attending the event and significantly increase the retention of registered attendees.
